REALLY REALLY GREAT PICS of the exhibition from lfi.co.uk!
I'll try to post as many as possible...

I went today to see it and I really wasn't that impressed. I think for the most part I don't like Orientalism in fashion and that accounts for about 50% of the stuff.
My favorite were the 2 animations showing the draping and the coat made entirely of one piece of fabric and one seam.
Also the reciept/bill of sale would be something awesome to have framed.
I think it is more about recognizing what he did for fashion in terms of design and business moreso than the actual pieces in the exhibit being something beautiful.
antiquedressc. 1926 INCREDIBLY RARE PAUL POIRET, Paris Black Silk Chiffon and Lace Dress! If you are a true "fashionista" you probably already know of the Paul Poiret: King of Fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. This dress came to me directly from a private collection - so it's new to the market! Poiret dresses are extremely rare on the open market! Black silk chiffon, dropped waistline, slight blouson over a black satin underdress. The skirt portion is a black chainstitch lace with chiffon filled flowers. The decoration comes from the piping at waist and the rows of beige/tan woven ribbons at cuffs, down front, and attached to the underskirt so it shows through the lace. There are no closures, just goes on over the head. Excellent condition for such a rare piece... with some issues: minor leg breaks in lace, a few stitches out, one weight missing from front of underdress (easy fixes). The only thing of importance are small holes in chiffon. These are not glaring. I rate the dress an easy 9 out of 10. Label is in excellent condition - located on side seam inside. Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 40" hips, 42-48 long from shoulder to hem.
Poiret: King of Fashion at the Met Video
Is the video not working for anyone else? The link is right, and the title and the caption on the page are right, but the video is a fall trend report.
