1895-1972 Cristobal Balenciaga

Cristobal Balenciaga works Couture magic with shimmering golden brocade in this "light as air" dress and jacket from the early 1960's.

The sleeveless dress has a fitted waist accented with a golden bow. The skirt is gently gathered, and falls in soft folds over the hips. There is a zipper at the left side as well as a series of fabric covered snaps. The dress is lined in sheer silk organza, and the construction includes a Merry Widow at the waistline.

The collarless jacket has three fabric covered buttons and bracelet length sleeves. The jacket is lined in pale gold silk, and it has the Balenciaga label as well as the numbered couture label at the center back.

I can only translate this part: moiré color ivory accompanied with a cap of the same weave embroidered in pedrería, and a tuille veil. c. 1965.
