I love the one where she's holding the silver shot put. It's so stylized and elegant. And she looks so happy. It's like she's playing the Daughter of Zeus and holding the earth in her hands.

that´s witchcraft!!!!thanks so much lucy!!!lil dagover was a great actress.dark and deep and with an innate dignity...i can´t think of a better description right now.and i agree,when talking about classic actresses most people would think of actresses from the 30s-50s.that´s why it´s so good that we´ve got this little 20s shelter where we can talk about actresses that are terribly neglected nowadays.

Laurette Taylor was considered at one time the best actress of her time, the most realistic not stylized as with so many of her contemporaries. Unfortunately, her alcoholism made it less feasable for the movie studios to bank on her. iluvjeisa,the book is very well researched and a good read.the author makes use of many primary sources from the time and includes them in the text.you probably get to know everything that can still be known about olive thomas and also a lot of interesting information on the movie industry at that time,on the ziegfeld follies and mr. ziegfeld himself ,the pickford family and paris at the time of olive´s death as well as every possible theory regarding her death...my only complaint is that the pics are too small....
