Yay for Eternal Sunshine's two nominations -- especially for Kate Winslet! And I'm glad the Academy is finally recognizing Charlie Kaufman's writing talents. Best film ever!

:buzz: Yay for "Ray" and Jamie Foxx's nominations!!! Too bad Leonardo DiCaprio is running for best leading role too - I always thought he deserved an Oscar :( - but this year I'm all for Jamie.

I hope Jamie wins, I had to remind myself that he wasn't Ray Charles whent he movie was done lol. it!

I also think that Kate Winslett shoud win, she was really good in Eternal Sunshine, but I'm really hoping Sophie Okenedo wins, because Hotel Rwanda was heartbreaking and she did an excellent job!

Just wow @ the noms, because they are all really good.

See Million Dollar Baby- such a suprisingly good film. it!

Good for Jamie Fox receiving TWO nominations for Ray (best actor) and Collateral (best supporting)!

Hurray for Don Cheadle!! :flower: I haven't seen Hotel Rwanda yet, but I've heard his preformance was spectacular (which I don't doubt because he's an incredible actor) and I'm very glad that they made a film addressing such a heartbreaking calamity

on a lighter note, I'm so glad Finding Neverland, Kate Winslet and A Series of Unfortunate Events (for costume design) are up there :woot:

Am I the only one who thinks that Jamie Foxx's performance in Ray was way over rated? Although he gives an amazing performance, I find that he was doing an impersonation of Ray Charles 95% of the time. Mimicking somone really doesn't impress me that much, and I'm not sure if that deserves Oscar recognition. There's a difference between capturing someone's essense and just becoming their clone. Jamie Foxx... he was Ray Charles' clone.

hmmm i think to be able to accurately depict someone and make u believe he IS that person , is a talent. so imo he deserves the nomination :) if he can convince people he IS ray charles on cam, then wow kudos! he deserves the oscar!

Yes Ingenue, I agree that it's a talent to be able to portray someone as if they were actually that person. But come on, the cast of SNL impersonates some of the celebrities better than the celebrities themselves. There's a huge hype machine surrounding Jamie Foxx right now, and that's the only reason I think he has a chance of winning. And that's what I hate most about the Oscars. You know months ahead who will win even before the nominations are announced. That's a bore. I hope Don Cheadle wins. That's a performance that deserves an Oscar.
And what happened to Paul Giamatti? I thought he was a shoe in, considering he was sweeping all the major critics awards. Oh well, I guess now there's going to be more support for Thomas Haden Church.
And Yippee for Catalina Sandinho Moreno. That's a very nice, unexpected surprise. I'm so excited about the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress category.

Oooh... I just realized Fahrenheit 9/11 wasn't even nominated... I guess Michael Moore's attempt to enter it as Picture of the Year didn't pay off.

argh.

I only care about the sea inside. i hope they win...even when they wont.

I wish Jim Carrey had been nominated for ESOTSM.

I agree- he really did step outside himself, so I was surprised to see that he wasn't actually.

I really think this will be the only Oscars I actually watch. :ninja: :innocent:

Also, I think it kind of sucks Paul Giamatti wasn't nominated for Sideways. Quite a good performance in that one.

Okay, Phantom got snubbed in the costume nominations IMO, other then that I guess it's pretty balanced.
