2005 Oscar nominees

Yeah for Ray

:buzz: Yay for "Ray" and Jamie Foxx's nominations!!! Too bad Leonardo DiCaprio is running for best leading role too - I always thought he deserved an Oscar :( - but this year I'm all for Jamie.

I'm so happy for him ..If you have'nt seen that movie you should it was awesome!

I'm very happy for Jamie Foxx, he was 'mimicking' Ray Charles but then so was Cate Blanchette for Kate Hepburn, DiCaprio for Howard Hues. However, Foxx's performance is taking so much of the glory away from Don Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda. Who's performance I find to be even more poigant.

Jim Carrey was so good, I wonder why the Academy doesn't like him.

hmmp i don't know how i feel about jamie foxx. he's still another slap stick humor guy to me.

In the major catagories, I hope these win.

Best Picture: The Aviator. Eh, not a hot year for movies imo. But I liked this one all right.

Best Actor-I LOVE Leo and want him to win.. but at the same time I don't because I know everyone is cheering for Jamie Fox and as a true Dicaprio fan I don't want another backlash against him. People still haven't looked past Titanic and seen his other great work in film. Wich I won't go in to... But he really was great in The Aviator.

Actress-Kate Winslet

Actor in Supporting Role-Jamie Fox was really good in Collateral. I'm deff rooting for him.

Actress in Supporting Role-Cate Blanchet was w/o a doubt Kathrine Hepburn. WIN.

Director-Martin Scorsese.

Anyway, it sucks that Hillary Swank, as good of an actress as she is (and she really is great) has to be gritty and dirty to win an Oscar, because she'll probably win for Million Dollar Baby. Wich is a great honor, but I wish for once an actress could win soley based on a performance... WITHOUT UGLYING UP. I mean who have been the past winners? Charlize Theron, ugly as sin in Monster.. Nicole Kidman, ugly in The Hours.. Halle Berry, ditrty and as "ugly" as she'll ever be in Monster's Ball.. Julia Roberts=exception.. Hillary Swank was a boy in Boys Don't Cry.. Does an actress have to be unattractive to win an Oscar nowadays?

^ I thought Nicole was quite lovely as Virginia Woolfe, not ugly at all but I think I'm in the minority

yeah another slap stick guy who can act actually, I'll admit after seeing "booty call" (which i thought was kinda funny) i didn't think in a million years he'd be at this point ( hilary swank, for the next karate kid, the same) but all i can say is wow!

I wish Jim Carrey had been nominated for ESOTSM.

Me too. As much as I love Kate Winslet, I think Jim Carrey had the better performance. He was so subtle -- and subtle is way harder than playing someone who's over-the-top. Jim, I love you and think you were robbed of a nomination!

I just love love love everything about this film and wish that it got more recognition. Like Michel Gondry for best director perhaps? I'd never expect him to win (not with Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese as his competition) but it blows my mind what he did with the film and how he was able to translate it from words on paper to what it was on the big screen.

And in my world, Eternal Sunshine would've repalced Finding Neverland for that fifth Best Picture spot. ;)

Yay for Eternal Sunshine's two nominations -- especially for Kate Winslet! And I'm glad the Academy is finally recognizing Charlie Kaufman's writing talents. Best film ever!

Agreed!

Not the biggest fan of Leo, however he was incrediable in the movie and quite convincing! I was presently suprised!

Cate also did a great performance!! Aviator was a great movie.

I find Clive Owen so handsome. He kind of looks like my ex-boyfriend except a bit older.

He was very good in Closer, I hope he wins. :flower:

Very good point
You see.. most people here in this country don't care about what is happenning in other countries..so sad..This is what Don portrayed

I was not veyr impressed with most American Movies this eyar, exept Garden State.

I would love to see Kate Winslet win!

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
SHARK TALE

I doubt, that it's going to win, there was already a "fish"-movie last year which was better. I going with The Incredibles for animated.

I think The Aviator will be the big winner this year, and Martin Scorsese finally get that statue, he's wanted for so long, I hope.
