Thanks Luna:flower:

I was thinking that it sounded "all encompassing" and contradicting of itself and then you made your final comment. It sounds like there really is no single trend, but everything goes, which is essentially the trend.

Not colours bur general trends for s/s 2006

EARTHEN - a worldly mix of native influences.

REVOLUTION - inspired by Russia and China.

VITAL - a mix of streetwise and feminine styles.

CONCEAL - unstructured styles fit like a second-skin

ENDURE - handcrafted and truly feminine.

TENSION - tennis kits and starched uniforms

I also found this...

"Highlights from this season's palette are: green, which is cast through blue and yellow tones, shades of rich orange, which are particularly strong and a wide range of neutral colour. "

2006 Colour Forecast
1.Black
2.Concrete
3.Cotton sky
4.Curry
5. very light blue green

I hope your prediction is correct! I love all of these colours (except the curry) and they make women look classy, serious & soft at the same time!

It still seems very confusing to me. Do you think the colours coming through from the Latin/Peru influence are the same as the spicy colours or a completely different colour palette?

Karen

Thanks for all of this - its interesting, confusing but interesting. I guess as Softie says, she's not a designer, neither am I, so gut instinct (primed from reading articles and information such as this) is mainly what I rely on. All that said it is very very intersting. Thanks for all the info!

Im late I know. But I think jewel tones are in. Deep purples, hot reds, gorgeous topaz, emerald, aquamarine, sapphire. These were all on the runways, mainly topaz, red, and deep purples. I love the color known as Curry, but it isn't an appealing name, Topaz is more sophisticated.

Anyone have a feel for "apricot" for spring 06, a softer version of summer 2005"s orange? Also feel stronger for wedgewood blue, anyone else with me on this?

is it just me or are alot of the upcoming trends for ss06 already highly visible in street fashion today?

i'm kinda new to the fashion games in terms of trend spotting. my instinct always seems to be more true that some analysis.

but i really do love reading all these posts. trend forecasting is one of the most exciting parts about this industry.

I think this may be a keen observation... I've been feeling apricot recently, and it also melds well with many of the other colours we will be seeing.

I'm liking the sound of those colours :)

I went to the "pure show" today, lots of soft pastels with a washed feel to them as well as the apricots, I saw turquoises, soft pinks, and soft limes... Mixed in with the neutrals of oatmeals and vanillas it looks good...

Also feel for spices ie rusts ocres etc (see winter 05 Mui Mui collection) this may be good for the early part of spring.

anyone think that the neutrals will be the strongest colour theme for 06?

:p
I belive in the jewel tones as well, (not that I know anything) And I have been feeling the colour curry in some time, So I can't wait until I'm able to buy more of that colour.

I agree with black and white being an important colour theme, but where does the red fit into this?

Red, white and black are probably what the younger designers, especially the Europeans (Belgians, Germans, Scandinavians) are doing. These aren't the "Pradas" or "Valentinos" - they will be working with more abstract prints and interesting volumes, cuts and shapes. They are not "bohos". A very exciting example is C. Neeon.

It also depends on the social milieu, which colours and styles will be popular. I think the American-UK-S European market is quite distinct from the N. European, and it depends on the age-groups as well. The older set will always love the retro jackets, the longer flouncy skirts with florals, beads and sequins whereas for those who go clubbing, they crave something more avant-garde. :)

I am also feeling for a return to pink and lots of greens too, and tons of black to follow on from this autumn 05.

Anyone agree or disagree?
