i dont believe ut at all!!seems a little funny if u ask me

wasnt the world supposed to end like a bazillion times before or something?

You know. I just got done taking a Mesoamerican anthropology course where we looked at the Mayan long count of 2010. The real "end of the world" for the Mayans is October 31 (I believe. I don't remember for sure!) in 3023, or something ridiculous like that. This is the end of the fourth world, so. A time of jubilation for purging and all of that. Not to mention, King Palenque of Tikal where the stela with 12-21-12 is located predicted we'd be celebrating his reign in 2107. Ironic, right? So. Even the Mayans thought we'd end up okay.

Either way. I am going to be far away from Mexico that day. Hello, Shetland islands!

And the lineup of the sun, the center of the galaxy, and the earth has happened before. About 20,000 years ago and hominids were kicking it on their way out of Africa, so I think we ought to maybe hopefully be okay. (Or I'll be very, very put off for being wrong).

When i was very young a middle Eastern religion predicted the end of the world on a certain date and it was published in many papers. One of my classmates terrorized the rest of us because she believed she was one of the chosen ones who was going to be singled out to be saved. Well the date came near and I became physically sick at home and my mom put me to bed even though I didn't have any of the classic symptoms. The date came and went and I was still alive and quickly recovered and couldn't wait to get back to school to knock the living s**t out of our doomsday enemy.....the moral of this story is to take each day as it comes....make sure your doing what makes you happy and stop worrying about whats going to happen down the line.

i agree with u model mom, its wrong to worry about the end of the world near or not it hasnt come and thats all that matters. scientificly or unscientificly the end of the world comes someday but we dont need to worry about that now!

I saw the History Channel documentary about 2012 as well. It scared me for a few months, but after researching the topic I learned that many believe that the earth will actually experience a global shift in consciousness, not the end of the world. Since there's really no way of knowing I think that we should all just try to do everything we've always wanted to do between now and then and spend as much time with our loved ones as possible.

I'm a HUGE skeptic in general, especially on subjects such as this.....but for arguement sake, even if the world is going to end....what are we to do about it anyway? So lets carry on, live our lives like it's our last day.....

I don't believe this at all, since we have gotten the strangest predictions so far. Apparently the world was suppose to end in 1982, but that didn't happen. Apparently, we'd run out of oil in 1960, that didn't happen either.

And besides, if it really is true-we should just live life as usual anyway.

I don't think the world is going to end so soon but I do believe that many changes are going to start happening in a few years. Maybe a modern plague, a change of consciousness, or as fourboltmain put it, a huge cleaning. All the evil and lack of moral compass will be swept out from the Earth and we'll start living a new age. That or something will kick off World War III. :ninja: :nuke:

I won't even get to finish college. :o

I would actually prefer it be the end of the world than the end of time, because more than likely (going with Christian doctrine here, considering that the only one I really know), either Satan is going to come back and start chopping off people's heads and witchunting the religious, or we will all revert back to hunter/gatherer times. I don't want either!

hasn't been Bush been doing that for several years already???:ninja:

^ I think I love you jun3machina. As far as Satans go.... :p ;)

But yeah, I am a sceptic too. Earth has a while. At least half a millenia. Although when the time comes, I wonder if there will be sceptics then too.

Could someone explain to me what a shift of consciousness means exactly? Plus, we are already having a plague right now, I just don't think anyone realy refers to it as that. But I think AIDS definitely qualifies as one.

A change in ideals and an event that will change the world forever (World War II for example). I think while that is an epidemic, imagine one on a large scale affecting a dramatic number of people...

Basically V for Vendetta in real life.

I don't recall of Bush personally chopping off people's heads. I guess I'm wrong.

After watching numerous segments of 'You don't know Dick' on the Daily Show, I wouldn't put it past Cheney to, er how can I put it delicately....'suck the blood of ducks'....a la Little Bush :innocent:

Well, just another reason to enjoy life to it's fullest while we can.
