NEW YORK — The names on the ballots for the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards have been finalized.

Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row are nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year. In the Menswear Designer of the Year category are Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne for Public School, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright for Rag & Bone, Thom Browne, Tim Coppens and Tom Ford.

Alexander Wang, Irene Neuwirth, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row and Tabitha Simmons will compete for Accessory Designer of the Year.

As for the slew of Swarovski Awards for emerging talent, which come with a bonus of financial support from Swarovski for the winners, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne for Public School, Rosie Assoulin and Ryan Roche are nominated in the women’s wear category, while Shayne Oliver for Hood by Air, Alex Orley, Matthew Orley and Samantha Orley for Orley and Ariel and Shimon Ovadia for Ovadia & Sons are nominated for the men’s wear award. For accessory design, the nominees are Paul Andrew, Eva Zuckerman for Eva Fehren and Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel for Mansur Gavriel.

Betsey Johnson will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Media Award in Honor of Eugenia Sheppard will go to Instagram, in the first time it has been given to a company and not an individual.

Millard “Mickey” Drexler will take home the Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert and Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli will collect the International Award.

The awards ceremony will take place June 1 at Alice Tully Hall with support from Swarovski. The evening’s host has yet to be revealed.

Congrats to the Olsen sisters, Mansur and Gavriel, really hope they take home the award for their respected nominations. Congratulations also to Betsy Johnson, well deserved.

the main categories are pretty standard fare but nice to see shayne oliver nominated in the emerging talent category. hopefully he gets it because right now nothing has stirred up the fashion landscape in NY like HBA. wish melitta baumeister got a nod too....she's very talented as well.

to me it feels like the beginning of a nice shift for NY fashion with so many kids now coming out of parsons at the moment. i think the CFDA will begin to take on a new look in the coming years.

Pharrell to Get CFDA Fashion Icon Award

Pharrell Williams will be honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards on June 1.

The awards, in collaboration with Swarovski, will be held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

The Fashion Icon Award is bestowed on an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture internationally. Williams joins the ranks of past honorees such as Rihanna, Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.

Williams’ career runs the gamut from singer, songwriter and record producer to fashion designer. He cofounded the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear and has a longtime partnership with Adidas.

“If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him,” said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA.

Williams has partnered with the United Nations Foundation to promote the organization’s International Day of Happiness on March 20.
Last week a Los Angeles federal jury ruled that musicians Robin Thicke and Williams were guilty of copyright infringement by using elements of Marvin Gaye’s song “Got to Give It Up” in their pop hit “Blurred Lines.” A jury awarded about $7.3 million to Gaye’s family.

This award is consistently ridiculous. He's an even more laughable recipient than Rihanna.

This award is consistently ridiculous. He's an even more laughable recipient than Rihanna.

Come on, that's a bit harsh, isn't it? He's certainly worthy of it. One of the rare men in mainstream that thinks out of the box when it comes to fashion. His style is not my taste, but it's great to see at least some individuality in men's looks.

The whole award is laughable as it is, and so is the event and don't get me started on the "jury", whatever that is.

Rihanna does have some authenticity in her field and fashion and seems to do her thing (even when it's gross and raunchy and not aspirational), meanwhile this jack of all trades (or should I say scam of all trades after last week's number) dresses like absolutely any other person riding any bus anywhere in the US, not a crime but there's probably more self-expression in a bank teller or the pentecostal crew if we're gonna get all street, and his collaborations? every single thing is lame, shoes are, tshirts are, songs are. He's a male Alexa Chung...

^although you could also say her stylist bears an awful lot of responsibility for how she dresses and the designers she chooses. i don't necessarily think she's that authentic either.

there's no such thing as true icons of style anymore with celebs. even musicians these days come prepared with a whole team....there's no real personal style in that notion anymore. the days of the siouxsie's,kim gordon's or bjork's sadly are not in modern culture anymore. so icon,i laugh at,frankly.

The same people are always nominated at the CFDA and the same one are always winning.
Michael Kors deserve the Womenswear award. He had a strong year. His collections were great.
For the menswear, Thom Browne or Tom Ford for me. Ryan Roche, Orley & Mansur Gavriel for the rest.

Great for Betsey & the Valentino duo.

Seriously, Pharrell deserve his award. He was the first one to bring together High fashion & streetwear. He is still influencial and has worked with a lot of A-list designers. He totally deserve it. Maybe it's coming too late.

nice for betsy; she's been around forever and has had real high moments in terms of sartorial influence.

goodness, she's dressed edie sedgwick!

^and was married to john cale....i still can't believe that!
