The man behind popular American brand 3.1 Phillip Lim – Phillip Lim – has teamed up with Tatami to created a collection Navaho-style shoes for men and women this spring 2008. With 13 styles for women and 7 for men, the collection is made up of shoes featuring soft suede fringing, multi buckles and patent leather accents. "Tatami and 3.1 Phillip Lim are a great pair," Lim explains. "I've always worn this type of sandal growing up, so they have always been part of my life. I love the fact that they are comfortable, easy, classic and extremely versatile for all occasions. They are like the white T-shirt... Perfectly designed."

Has anyone seen these in person yet? While I don't love them all, I think there are definitely a few winners in here. I would have never thought of Burkenstocks could be so stylish! I can only find a few pictures online so far, the ones featured in Nylon this month don't seem to be available yet:cry:. There should be more showing up on Net-a-porter soon though. Price range is from $126-$225

I saw this in Nylon magazine too! The red pair that Nylon had pictured definitely peeked my interest.

we sell the first two pairs at the boutique i work at. when i first saw them, i was like...wow, weird! and now i really REALLY like them. i will probably buy the first pair...the black and white ones. i think the straps are thin enough that even though the pattern is a little wild, they're still subtle enough to wear on a daily basis.

ps: they're all EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE!!! and the price is pretty decent.

Well, what is the difference between Tatami and Birkenstock?

Tatami is Birkenstock's "fashion forward" line. I really like the ones in the first pic and those ones from Nylon (still can't find them!) but i'll pass on the rest. Especially the strappy black patent and the red lace up ones:yuk:
Still, I think Lim did a really good job reinterpreting Birkenstocks.

They definitely look better than the normal Birkenstocks but I think I'll pass. Never got the Birkenstock trend, don't think I ever will.

I like the 2nd one, but without the trademark birkenstock sole. :P

mmm i love phillip lim but these shoes not so much... even though i know birkenstocks are comfy :P

i like the last pair, a good alternative for the mens balenciaga sandals

^ya, I was thinking that. I just can not wear Birkenstocks, they hurt my feet (I have a high arch, I think thats the reason...). They are a little clunky too. They are really cute though, I especially love the pale green color...

i think i might get a pair if NAP carries a nice selection.
as a german native, i grew up being surrounded by them  and somehow always end up getting a new pair. they are indeed very ugly though

yea, i agree about the clunky comment...

the pale green ones? the ones on elux? i love them, but wish they had a thinner sole..

i was gonna make fun of these when i first saw them
but now taking a second look....i actually find myself oddly drawn to them (much like a lot of you)
i dont know why
i hate Birkenstocks....they remind me of my old sleepaway camp days when they were "cool" and popular and everyone had a pair....except me
ha
but i kinda like these
i dont know if i'd buy them, but its a nice change from the original Birkenstock

I am desperate for the red pair myself. I do wear birks (bit of an old hippie I guess) because they are so comfortable. I'm ashamed to admit that I once only owned one pair of birks and wore them all the time.

So combining fashion forward with the reliable comfort I've always known is a match made in heaven for me.

Anyway, if anyone knows where I can order a red pair, please, please let me know. I called netaporter and they said sometime within the month but they still don't know when. I know elux sold out of them within like two days. :(

These are very ugly/pretty.. oddly appealing. I would only ever consider getting the silver fringe pair, the rest lean a bit too much to the ugly side of pretty..;)

I used to hate birkenstocks but now I have a major crush. My first pair was the Undercover ones with the studs all over them, which I have in white, and now I'm totally loving those cheetah ones... I think they will be mine....:woot:

does anyone know where i could order them online for europe delivery pls?
