I know it's based on his year of birth, but 1972 was not a great year for the UK, generally seen as the year of the most savage violence in Northern Ireland, including Bloody Sunday, not to mention many other riots, strikes and bombings in England in general, against a background of other world events like the Munich massacre during the 1972 Summer Olympics. It was a hard year.

It's a year that's been used as a springboard for serious film and cinema... not so much for fashion.
