A.F. Vandevorst F/W 07.08 Paris

not very well cut?! i tell you, these two are two of the most innovative cutters around....and it's not even that,it's the silhouette that might render it frumpy.....although i think it's more to do with a certain classic silhouette and a uniform sensibility than frump. this uniform look is sort of a signature they're bringing back....it reminds me so much of their ecclesiastical collection from A/W 01 and the one they did a couple years ago with the horses.....

and i think it excites me because those are some of their strongest collections.

Well, then I don't like that. I'm not saying they are talentless, as I know they can make good clothes. I don't like the way these clothes are cut, I don't think they flatter the body at all. I think I've seen this too many times.

Another hit, IMO. I wasn't that fond of last season, but I really like this.

I never have really followed this designer- but this is all lovely.

it's sinple, but special as well

YESSSS!!!! i wish i could express my giddiness better:D:p

Fantastic collection from them. Taking on alot of elements from their archive but it isn't rehashed but rather refreshed(sorry for the pun).

I agree completely with Scott. How could this possibly be called boring? They've really mastered their archive, imo. The lingerie references, the fur, the cozy knits, the armor-like tops--all absolutely wonderful here! And the cuts of their jackets and skirts are just amazing. Feeling very giddy about it myself!

I can't stop thinking about this dress.

thank you mullet!!! :woot:

looks even better up close.

argh! i hate my connection! the aufeminin pics take so long to load.

indeed laika...it does. on both accounts. you really expressed that better than i

i really love that shirt with the lace overlay that jamie bochert is modelling. in fact, they really outdid themselves with the shirting this season. such a strong point,if you can clearly see amongst all the gorgeousness. and aren't the liberty prints so charming? must point out also...the etching make-up inge grognard did

so much to lament really. thanks mullet dear ^_^

Such a great collection

It feels very shaman like with the make up and all the feathers and the looking pieces

I am crazy about this collection....can't believe I will have to go to Jeffrey to see it.

^doesn't kirna zabete still carry their collections?

Scott, I don't think so....they don't carry much outside the mainstream anymore. I know they dropped Chalayan awhile ago, and I don't remember ever seeing AF Vandevorst there. I will certainly double check that though, thanks for the suggestion. :flower:

Via Bus Stop carried them for a season or two, but I haven't seen any there for a couple of years...the shopping landscape in NYC feels a bit bleak right now. :(

i know i am probably living in the past, but i do remember beth and the other girl had been very loyal to an and filip since they opened their doors. of course,it's been a while since i checked and times have certainly changed toward that direction, you mention......unfortunately. used to be one of the better quality boutiques for the lesser knowns in NY. they used to even carry the uber-esoteric Jurgi Persoons,Susan C.,Bruce and Adrover....in addition to Chalayan. probably the only one to find all those talents.

so jeffrey is the only store on the east coast that carries them? I want to see this collection up close, the knits and the shearling cape alone are worth the trip. the boots with the wedge are sensational.

^yup.

Thanks for reminding me, actually, I meant to report that Kirna Zabete no longer carries the label.

The boots are really amazing, aren't they? The ones with the heel and the box toe remind me of your Ann Dem boots--they have that lovely animal quality. No one does boots as well as they do!

laika, I thought the same thing when I saw the boots. the weight in the front and the lightness in back...same concept. :flower: looks like mona moore is going to carry their shoe line.

the red dress is with the ties in front :heart:. I hope jeffrey gets in quite a bit of this so I can make a day of it and visit Comme nearby. the chunky wrap that mulletproof posted is so :woot:.
