Addicted to buying fashion magazines, who has the same problem??

Magazines I buy the minute they hit the shelves: Vogue US, French Vogue, Italian Vogue, Numero, V, British GQ, Arena, Arena Homme +, Vogue Hommes International, GQ Style, Jalouse, i-D.

I hate when some magazines only come out a couple times a year (GQ style, Citizen K, Vogue Hommes International)

Most of time if the magazine has a good cover I'll keep it, Otherwise I'll cut out the good editorials and ads and since I'm a therapist in a Psych Ward I'll leave the magazines out for patients to read. They all seem to like Italian Vogue, and since most of the patients are psychotic they believe they can read french and italian like it were english, it's funny.

The last weeks I told my boyfriend and the people that i know from magazines stores that im really addicted with buying magazines, and that i will do my best to buy less magazines, because the last years i spend every month around 180 euro till 300 euros some times, that is allot of money. In a year time that is 2700 euro !! that is around 3300 dollars a year !! when im saying it like this im really crazy:blink::blink::blink:, i could buy a great louis vuitton bag from that money :p:p
I make this appoinment with my self, i will only buy the magazine if there are atleast 2 editorials inside that i like !!:woot: and i will do my best that i will not buy more than 5 magazines a month!
Or maybe i can steal magazines hahaha:ninja::ninja::ninja:

bye
ps im happy my first thread that i started is growing and growing :woot::woot:

These days I'm buying Vogue Russia and L'Officiel Russia. Though, to think about it I'm subscribed to Vogue UK and Numero :D :D It comes to 4 magazines with food mag (smth like Gourmet) once in a two months. I haven't met anybody in reality who are as much addicted to mags as I am :D only here I can share my illness :D :D

i noticed my addiction is getting out of hand these days. I have my `regulars` that I get very month. Now I added 3-4 new magazines to my list. I`m getting about 14-15 magazines every month and this is not including my subscriptions!

I have been buying fashion magazines since I was 14, now I'm 29. I keep trying to cut some out, limit what I buy, now I've started buying the European ones on top of the US ones.....It's only getting worse.....

I don't even keep them either, read it, recycle it. (except Vogue Paris)
If the store doesn't have a magazine on the shelf when I know it should be out I feel anxious, like I have to have it now! argh, therefor, I believe I am addicted.

I dont spend that much but I always have to buy Italia Vogue, Numero and Flair :) And have subscriptions to about 5 others too! Yeah, it's a problem

Does anyone read all the mags that they buy...I suddenly realise I have a pile to read yet I still go out and buy more new ones!?

^ haha yes :D
i usually buy it, flick through it and leave it to the side for when i have time to read the whole thing.
and the next thing i know, there are about 3 magazines on the side that i need to read.

The same problem:lol:. I'm trying to restrict myself - first read previous magazine and only then the one which is newer:lol:. I read Vogue UK longer because English is not my native language so there is a pile of Vogue UK near my bed always:blush:. I'm tempted to take June issue with Agyness on the cover but first must finish May with Natalia:lol:. May be this helps me to keep in the boundaries and also the fact that here in Russia we have far less magazines that are worth reading and watching:innocent:

I am on detox atm because i have exams and i can't have the distraction, TFS is bad enough.

But sometimes when i miss an edition of a mag i buy all the time i become obsessed with trying to find a copy. None of my friends are like this

I thought it was just me till I found this brilliant thread...Thanks Peter!...Perhaps we need to set up an AA (Alchoholics Anonymous) equivalant for us Magazine Magpies!!!
We need to come up with a plan to help us overcome the addiction.
1.Always have a real good look thru the mag first - then ask yourself do you REALLY need to buy it!
2.Take alook at all the magazines you have bought in a month and work out how much the habit costs you over a year! Then work out a realistic budget for each month - keeping that amount seperate only for mags. Then when its gone - its gone!!....that is till next month:lol:!!

Anymore ideas?

I have sort of relapsed into being a mag addict... I was content with getting W and cosmoGIRL! in the magazine, but not at the moment. What can I say- all the cute bathing suit editorials are a bit too much for me!!

Every month I get NYLON, Self, and Shape. Now I've started getting Jane more and more often. Sometimes I'll get cheesy tabloid mags. I think I buy about 4-6 magazines a month. I really should cut back, or borrow friend's old ones when they're done with them.

I have a subscription to magazines that I like and then I buy them again if I want to cut things because they are too pretty to damage  I am crazy

joie.. Haha that is so funny....I cut things out but have not bought two of the same mag....Yet!!
Khatoic...sorry you have relapsed! ;)

I'm a new addict I guess. I've started buying fashion magazines since May last year, and I keep buying more and more magazines every month. I have decided to buy less magazines starting from June... to save money for buying the bi-annually issued magazines in this fall :ninja:

so has anyone successfully recovered from the addiction of buying fashion magazines?

To be honest, I don't think anyone here on tFS isn't addicted to buying fashion magazines... :innocent:

But the magazines look so pretty in the shelves...And I like the fact that while everyone else has bookshelves I have magazineshelves :innocent:
Though I need a new one, I never guessed I'd buy this much magazines

:unsure:Its good to know that I am not alone in this world. My name is Michele, and I am a magazine-oholic. I don't any help, I just am admiting that there might be a problem. But I am sure I can control it.:ninja::huh::unsure:
