The Aigle wellingtons are hand made in France from natural rubber and are of higher quality when compared to Hunter.

The legendary Aigle Parcours:

as far as rubber wellie's go, the ones that are worn for real work are called "muck boots". the secret is out.

There is another brand, I cannot remember the name that is made out of a super high quality rubber that they had at Eddie Bauer (only one pair - also a French brand).

You can get Aigle now through J.Crew. They are cute, but I don't think the quality really makes a difference when you are just wearing them occasionally as a shoe, and not as luckyme notes, for real mucking out.

I have Aigle Parcours. They are comfortable and warm, (but heavy) and the traction is better than Hunter. It's very practical here in New England. I wear them in the snow and rain...in the mud and on slippery ground. The French brand Meg mentioned is Le Chameau.

Aigle is a very good brand ...

But as far as I'm concerned, these boots look ONLY good when it does rain outside or on a farm !

edit : just saw yr post loveletter ... oops
and indeed Le Chameau is very good (I only know their items for horse-riding, though). It's like the french Barbour, I guess
