Alber Elbaz, Lanvin by Shelly Verthime & Pascal Dangin
*soblacktie.comIt has been ten years since the creator Alber Elbaz, playful and discreet as a child, enchants women's fashion brand for Lanvin. For ten years of this collaboration, Lanvin released a superb book that will mark the first chapter may be the next ten years?
This book, simply called "Alber Elbaz, Lanvin", traces the decade of this life together, but shows us precisely the creative work behind the Lanvin Fall-Winter 2011.
A book that is only available in a deluxe hardcover with a cover made by hand, bound in silk chiffon grosgrain. Lovers of luxury impressions, I know at least one, appreciate typography carved and gilt on the edge of pages. In printing this is a very delicate work. The book will find a little protection in its cardboard box, also made hands.
To let the magic, it will gently turn the 688 pages and discover the 317 boards. For those who are interested (s) by this collector's item, know that it is sold at Lanvin flagship store at 15 and 22 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore but also online, on the site, prices € 320.
The texts are signed by Alber Elbaz, co-edited by Pascal Dangin and Shelly Verthime. Photographs are the Purpose of Sou Lai. Creative direction and art was created by Pascal Dangin. Published by Steidl
*Vogue.co.ukAlber Elbaz has explained, with his trademark humour and modesty, how his own appearance influenced his debut book - which pays tribute to the many artisans who help make his collection, from fitters to those who sew the stitches.
"The book is small and fat - something I could relate to!" Elbaz told the International Herald Tribune, before adding, "I was searching for a story that people would get when they look at the book - and the story is the process."
Heavily picture-based, 3,000 pictures were taken for the book in a bid to document all elements of how the Lanvin team works. Each gilded page is narrated with a short quote from Elbaz, with musings such as "It's not about the front or back of a dress. It's about what is in-between; the body, the human being; the person."
The book will be available in early spring, priced at €340 (£265).
