Alessandro Dell’Acqua F/W 1998 : Devon Aoki by Juergen Teller

I like the risk in these images, feels freeing. Devon's really pops with all that blush and her hair is divine.

The UK would probably censor them nowadays on the basis of resembling child p*rn*gr*phy like that Miu Miu campaign.

The imagery is so sophisticatedly sly and darkly subversive— masterfully teetering on creeper territory with no one more perfect for the role than Devon.

The gradual and impending censorship not just in consumer and mainstream imagery— but in the fashion realm is startlingly, frighteningly Orwellian/new conservatism. And more frighteningly so— it’s the so-called progressive liberal types, initiated by a new generation of puerile youth faux-outraging at everything, that’s neutering fashion into a meek, lobotomized homogenized state. This is likely the first youth generation that is even more conservative than any previous generation. And if I’m accused of being ageist, then I’d love to be proven wrong with a new youth movement that’s energized creativity to the max.
