Marc Jacobs S/S 2007: Dakota Fanning by Juergen Teller

I love the pictures, she is so cute and these pictures are SOOOOOOOOO much better than the ones with Meg White.

These are hilarious and she looks adorable. I think this was a great idea. Very eye-catching.

I love Marc and I love how his ads are rarely overdone but this is a bit.. under-done?

i think it's cute

but so completely pointless- really doesn't do a thing for the company.

My opinion of this keeps changing. I can see WHY they chose her.. but I'm just not into the idea.

marc jacobs have a lot of inspiration from dark child themes, and shares visual ideas with the likes of tim burton and the hipster movement.

NEVER takes anything too seriously, but always instills that child-like demenor to his clothes whether they be the main line or the marc by marc jacobs line. if you know marc jacobs, then you get why he used dakota in the ads, and that it fits his quirky design styling.

These are good points. This is why the ad makes sense although its def not the best marketing tool.

But really, Marc Jacobs print ads are not what genrerate the sales, so honestly they can just have fun with them and do whatever they want and it wont effect much.

This ad is silly and fun, its not meant to be taken seriously, thats what marc is all about!

They're adorable, and I think they perfectly suit the collection.

Whimsical, quirky and pretty....I can't wait to see more.

If Marc Jacobs wants grown women to buy his clothes, perhaps he should demonstrate to us how great they look on actual grown women, not 12 year olds, or exceptionally sized 18 year olds. :innocent:

This just seems so bizarre to me, I can't even look at the clothes seriously in the ads, they look like old lady costumes. :ninja:

^I agree! What's the point of this ad? It's just Marc trying to be bizarre for no reason. What woman who has the money to buy Marc Jacobs clothing wants to walk around looking like a ten year old playing dress up?

eh. dont really like it. but i gotta admit it seems very marc-like i suppose you could say.

she totally looks like a 7 years old girl in these ads...but isn't she 12 years old now?
I remember she looks abit older than in the Gap ad

anyway I like these ads and can't wait to see them in magazines

People that buy Marc Jacobs are going to buy Marc Jacobs regardless of the advertising.

Dakota looks 'cute' but I don't know how this will fly with WOMEN...

I really like the concept and I think Juergen Teller did a great job with the ads. In my opinion, Marc is the only designer who could use a 12 year old in his ads to make it look fresh and young--if versace or gucci did this dakota would look like a lolita. Marc's clothes are never revealing or intentionally "sexy" so i think it works

Okay, I really don't like MJ, but I do like Dakota. She is adorable in those pictures!

i've always been a huge fan of the marc jacobs ads photographed by juergen teller, i actually collect them. and i think the main reason i liked the ads is becasue they always came off as powerful. (without losing a sense of humour)

this dakota fanning business though, seems kind of slapstick-y to me..it's actually kind of creepy. i'd have loved to see a group ad this time around.:flower:
