Alexa Chung

wow, that's a very pretty color on her.
and the dress is very childish/old lady...so it's perfect for her!

I actually quite like the dress at Mulberry! Not too childish, interesting color, attractive sleeve length, and those pleats look fun. It could have used a belt at the waist, though, to increase the silhouette.
Any IDs on the dress?

That whole look suits her perfectly!

I actually think more than one piece from this collection was designed with her in mind......

In response to Alexa and her 'childish' looks: I don't think many of these styles are remotely childish/childlike in themselves, the above dress in lavender (regardless of length) doesn't strike me as overtly youthful. I think Alexa just styles the pieces to her own tastes, and the apparent childishness is simply her own playful, youthful aspect made manifest. This doesn't necessarily have to be a negative thing, although in a culture already saturated with obsessions of youth, it could come across as contrived.

My own opinion, whilst not an actual 'fan' of Alexa's style, is that her look is simply her look, no matter how it evolves, the leggy, high heeled, short hemmed styles are simply just her. She gets quite a lot of flack in the press for... certain aspects of her appearance, but I think a lot of this, plus the childish accusations have a lot more to do with her refusal to play up to conventional standards of sexuality. She doesn't 'flaunt' anything, which is kind of rare, really. This must confuse a lot of people out there: an attractive, tall, modelesque beauty who doesn't base her entire public persona around her sex appeal. Basically, even if you wish to label her a hipster, or loather her personal style, she certainly stands by her own convictions, fashion-wise.

Consider the way she composes herself in photographs, her physique, etc. I think that there is something inherently childlike, youthful here that isn't necessarily intentional. I'd go so far as to say she owns this, rather than cultivates it.

I'd hazard a guess that she singlehandedly inspired the recent trends for peter pan styles, that youthful gawkiness. She stands out to me simply because no matter how her style evolves, whether the looks involve designer or high street, she always makes them her own. Something I don't see a lot of. And after all that, I am not even a fan, so I'm gonna shut up now;)

Alexa Chung Drops Hints on Her Second Madewell Collection
fashionologie.com

>> Earlier this month, it came out that Alexa Chung is teaming up with Madewell again for a second collection. Although there are no images for the offering yet (it won't hit stores until Fall 2011), Chung did give a few hints on Twitter last night: "A lot of 90's in new AC for Madewell collection. Actually 70's too.. probs need to start making patent bubble gum coloured tiny minis. YOWW." [@alexa_chung]

I really do hope there will be patent bubble gum colored minis. Really, I'm just hoping the collection will be a disaster because if it's as nice as her last, I'll probably buy it all.

i cant wait! also, the background (big flowers and b+w drawings) of the mulberry event compliments her outfit nicely^_^

#127 when i say childish and when it comes to Alexa, that's her style, so there is nothing wrong with it. i love that shes loyal to herself, she proved it on the Oscars the best.
