It is, except the checks are smaller and the same size. I guess that makes it a checked coat? The lace dress and tartan coat are the same length.

#584 Sadly not very impressed for the first previews of the next collection I like the previous way more...

Love the instyle photos. Does anyone know if she's doing anymore cute t-shirts with the new collection for Madewell like her "hello bat" t-shirt from last season?

I don't understand the hype around her Madewell collection. It's really nothing special: plain sweaters, pink trousers copied from TOPSHOP that she has, classic coats. There is no "designing" in this collection at all. Not a single unique item that we can't find anywhere else. Even a teenager obsessed with the 60s can make up these pieces.

Oh, first post. Hello :)

Anyway, I just read on a couple of danish fashionmagazine-sites that Alexa will be the new face of danish brand Vero Moda from november 2011 till july 2012. Soo exited <3

Re: carte_postale's comment, I thought those were pictures from InStyle magazine, not the Madewell collection preview. Either way, maybe those are her Top Shop jeans and she's just wearing them for the photoshoot. Often - especially with Alexa - models or famous people will wear some pieces or jewelry from their own wardrobe in a shoot. She's worn her vintage Levi's shorts, her own necklaces, etc. in photoshoots I've seen her in before.

There's a rumor going around on twitter that she'll be the new face of the Vero Moda fall campaign. Anyone knows anything about that?

was mentioned a few posts above you. but yeah, its confirmed:

Alexa Chung for Vero Moda: yay or nay?
What a treat it was to see the delectable Alexa Chung modeling for Madewell yesterday. The A/W '11 campaign oozes retro chic thanks to a collection of high-waisted shorts and lace tops and, as littlemunchkin commented, ‘Alexa totally suits the Madewell vibe’ - unsurprisingly so considering she crammed the range with her trademark Chung-ness.

So you can imagine our excitement upon hearing another brand has bagged the Brit beauty for their campaign. Does this mean more vintage girliness? Can we expect another splash of kooky coolness?

Err, possibly not. Vero Moda, who have today unveiled Alexa as their new face, is a Danish womenswear brand and, quite frankly, the partnership doesn’t immediately strike Grazia Daily as an obvious choice. Plus, although the style icon would look hot in a potato sack, we've had a browse through www.veromoda.com and are struggling to picture her in *ahem* these:

Befuddlement.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the brand asserts, ‘Alexa is the perfect choice for Vero Moda. We feel certain that the collaboration will take Vero Moda to a higher level and provide our brand with an added value.’ Hmm, perhaps V-M are planning on whipping up a retro-inspired range especially for Chungers? Besides, there's no mention of Alexa designing her own pieces for the brand (as she did for Madewell) and admittedly, the selection on ASOS of patterned dresses with cute collars and butterfly print blouses does look more Chung-esque, especially when teamed with sandals + socks and a wide-brimmed hat.

According to Drapers, the campaign images have already been shot in New York so for now, we’ll save our verdict for when the campaign drops in November. In the meantime, we want to hear YOUR thoughts about the partnership...

I really want to see more of the lace mini dress that's supposed to be in the new Alexa Chung for Madewell collection... So far, I'm thinking that will be my first-priority purchase. I've been searching for just the right white lace piece to incorporate into my more tomboy-ish every-day wear.

I also really like the sound of the printed silk blouses, perfect match with my beloved new high-waist J Brand super-skinny jeans. I can't wait~!

They definitely aren´t her Topshop jeans, it said so in the magazine.

Zac Posen’s Stylist Beau Christopher Niquet Dishes on Decorating Alexa Chung’s New Manhattan Apartment

If Zac Posen does indeed start designing furniture, then we have an inkling who might lend a helping hand: Boyfriend Christopher Niquet.
Niquet is a French stylist who got his start at Self Service magazine in the late nineties, and has worked in the business ever since, styling shoots for (among others) Another Magazine, Dazed & Confused, US Elle and Purple, as well as campaigns for Karl Lagerfeld, Hermes, A.P.C. and, of course, Zac Posen. But according to Niquet, he may be changing track soon. “I think I will do more interiors now,” the sought-after-stylist told us last night at the opening of the new Z Spoke store.
Apparently it all started when good friends Alexa Chung and Tennessee Thomas recently moved to Manhattan and the stylist began helping them decorate their apartments. Anyone who has met Niquet can tell the man has impeccable taste, and so it’s no surprise that before he knew it, he was helping Chung and Thomas source furniture and pick out textiles for their respective apartments.
“It’s great with Alexa because she doesn’t need to spend any money at all on clothes–no, I think she gets it all for free!” he told us last night, laughing. “I was at a shoot with her recently and she took like a trunk home full of clothes and I said, is this normal? And she said, yeah pretty much.” Cue the jealousy…
“But anyway,” he continued in his adorable French accent, “She doesn’t have to spend very much on clothes so she can spend more on furniture.” And how pretell is Miss Chung decorating her new digs? “Alexa’s is very Ladurée, you know. Very Marie Antoinette.”
While Chung will still be splitting her time between London and New York, Niquet thinks we could really use her stateside. “I hope she stays,” he said. “The British have enough cute It Girls over there. We need her here!”
Well there’s always the Kardashians…”I know, I can’t believe the hysteria surrounding their wedding!” the Frenchman exclaimed last night. “But honestly, I worked with Kim on a shoot before and she was very gracious, very nice to work with.”

She's also opening Fashion Week in Australia.

Alexa Chung's Aussie adventure
Hurrah, our fave Brit girl is set to hit our shores as a VIP for 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty. Grazia’s Jamie Huckbody gets the lowdown.

London, and the weather is uncharacteristically sweltering. While everybody else has given in to sweat, thongs and grubby feet, Alexa Chung, the 27-year-old TV presenter, muse and designer for Madewell, manages to remain totally cool. But then what would you expect of the woman dubbed “The New Kate Moss”?

30 DAYS OF FASHION AND BEAUTY: Alexa Chung is our international ambassador

Wearing a favourite navy-blue polka-dot dress and gold Mary Janes (“Because it is a bit hot, isn’t it?”), Alexa has taken refuge in her home from the barrage of media speculation – yes, she has just broken-up from her boyfriend, Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner; no, it is not a topic for discussion today.

Here, at least, all is calm – and the decor is every bit as inspiring as Alexa’s fashion sense. There are old picture prints, a tiny photo of David Bowie that was taken for his passport (“a prized possession”), travelling trunks, deck chairs and lots of rich velvet upholstery for a look that is Paris salon meets English junk shop.

Your home is worthy of interiors blog The Selby!
Erm…I think The Selby might’ve asked to be “in my place” but I felt weird about showing people my home. It’s a very eclectic mix of things, isn’t it? I don’t mind it looking like the house of a mad old lady.

So are you looking forward to going to Australia? Is this your first trip?
I am soooo excited! I first went to Oz as a teenager, and did some modelling in Melbourne. I’ve been to Sydney a couple of times with T4 [the British, too-cool-for-school TV show featuring new music, fashion and film]. We went to Alice Springs, Melbourne and Sydney for about a month. Then I went to Whale Beach with Alex and the Arctic Monkeys and watched the fireworks in Sydney for New Year’s.

Aussie designers will be queuing up to get their frocks on your back. Are there any names on your fashion radar already?
To be honest, I don’t know very much about Aussie fashion; I only know Lover and Antipodium. But I’m very excited to have the opportunity to explore what’s going on over there, as I know there’s some really cool stuff. On my last visit, I got some really nice jeans from White Suede and that designer from New Zealand…erm, what’s her name?

Karen Walker?
That’s the one!

We know you’re a huge fan of Lover. So will you be catching up with the label’s designers, Susien Chong and Nic Briand?
Hopefully, but Susien did say she wasn’t going to be there when I was.

We’ve read you borrow most of the amazing outfits you wear. Some of them must come home with you…wink, wink, nudge, nudge…
Most of the things I wear are on loan – the Chanel, the Louis Vuitton, the Burberry Prorsum. But I also like to support smaller labels by buying them; designers like Christopher Kane, Charles Anastase and Erdem. These are the brands I invest in because I know how hard these designers have to work to keep their small businesses going. And you know, people are very generous so I get sent some nice things.

So what does a fashion guru hang out in at home when there’s no red-carpet event to attend?
The very same things I wear on the red carpet. I don’t change my look depending on whether I’m in the house or at a special event. I love dungarees (they’re just so practical) but perhaps I should invest in a velvet smoking jacket and monogrammed slippers for when I am at home.

What else is on your fashion wish list right now?
Mohair jumpers, pyjamas and palm-tree prints.
