Has this Madewell image already been posted? Not sure how I'm feeling about all the peterpan collars. I think I'm getting too old for that look:ermm:

So, I'm currently working part-time with my school's news blog, where I have to fact-check text and came across this:
2. Vogue’s Fashion Pop-up at Topshop and Alexa Chung at Madewell
What: Hit two parties at the same time at Topshop and Madewell in Soho. Topshop will host Vogue’s second Fashion’s Night Out party, this time themed around a concept real-life pop-up magazine, with a fashion desk, beauty desk, DJ, drinks, and photographers clamoring to take your picture. Also, proceeds from exclusive Vogue t-shirt purchases will go straight to the NYC Aids fund. Meanwhile, next door Madewell will feature fashion darling and it-girl Alexa Chung, debuting her new line for the laid-back, urban label.
Why: Two-in-one—and easily accessible by subway! Besides, though we’re not too sure what a real life enactment of a magazine actually means, we think if you’re going to go to one big party this Friday, Vogue’s bash at Topshop is the place to be. And, of course, we all secretly want to dress like Alexa Chung– or just stare at her for a bit.
Where: Topshop, 478 Broadway, and Madewell, 486 Broadway.

It's this Friday, so if you're in NYC and you're a fan of Alexa...well...go!

I'm actually really annoyed the collection isn't available to UK customers. She has such a big fan base over here so many girls would buy it! I wanted the velvet shorts so bad. :(

I'm so pissed about this! I have just sold a dress on ebay that is almost the splitting image of this one that Alexa has made for her Madewell line, albeit mine was from Primark a few years ago. I wonder if Alexa too bought the same dress before she became stratospherically famous and liked the design so much that she put it into her Madewell line?

I quite like them, regardless of any age considerations. Such a style has a timeless appeal, to me, and its 'appropriateness' would entirely depend upon the person's individual looks and how it was styled.

Odd about the dress from ebay above though! So similar!
I once purchased another similar dress from Warehouse (UK). Same colour, pleats, etc. When I first saw the Alexa dress, the Warehouse one sprang to mind immediately. It is rather classic though. There are likely quite a few variations on this particular style floating around out there.

I agree with you that the age appropriate issue depends on styling but also subjective taste. Personally, I love peterpan collars and I am a twenty-something. I say for every peterpan collar, a wrinkle is cancelled out, ha har!

Well, I am past 30 now, haha!
It definitely is dependent upon the individual, for instance, I still shop at Topshop, but then I don't appear any different physically to how I did in my twenties, so it is all pretty relative, really (I have always looked quite a bit younger, and it has more drawbacks than you'd think!).
My style is slightly similar to Alexa's (hence me discovering this thread), although I am quite petite and blonde/pale, so tend to adapt it somewhat differently to suit my own look. I think that it could sound shockingly odd to someone 10-15 years younger, but the truth is, unless you are predisposed to aging dramatically fast, not much really alters between your 20's and 30's fashion wise - but you definitely begin to think differently, which would rule out styles which were supposedly 'innapropriate', not just because of age related concerns, but more so because you just naturally alter your mind set towards how you personally dress.
I always see fashion as a journey, not something with a deadline for expression:)

As for the peter pan wrinkle defense, I have been lucky not to find any (that I'm aware of!) so far, but will keep you posted to see if it works ;)

Alexa's Madewell collection will only be sold in Madewell stores and online...I wrote to them asking whether any other store will carry the collection, and they said NO. :(

Okay...$50 for the darn bat t-shirt? I can buy a plain t-shirt for $5 and draw a bat with sharpie just as good as that one. I just can't pay so much for something so plain, just because it was made by Alexa Chung. I do hope to purchase something from the collection though.

Man, I feel glad my NYC holiday just happens to coincide with her Madewell debut, because I hail from little ol' New Zealand and would be just as screwed. Kinda envisioning a massive sh i t-fight however, lol.
