Tongues started wagging at the British Fashion Awards on Tuesday night when style icon du jour Alexa Chung was seated at the New Look table. Rumours have been circulating that the high street giants were on the look out for another celebrity name to add to their stable of designers following the huge success of their collaborations with Lily Allen and Kelly Brook - and by the looks of things they have found their girl. New Look are keeping tight lipped on the matter refusing to either confirm or deny that Alexa will be joining the team, but as Gordon Ramsey has shown us this week, not confirming or denying a rumour is as good as admitting it's true. Let's hope so anyway. If Alexa's personal style and fashion connections are anything to go by it would be a guaranteed sell-out hit. Nice work, New Look!

Think this could be true, Alexa did mention in the Elle interview that she'd like to do a range. Celebrity designers are annoying and I don't like New Look, but I did like the skull jewellery she designed and the printed t-shirts she made for friends, so I'd be interested to see what she comes up with.

Top Goss : British Fashion Awards

THERE was plenty of drama at last night’s British Fashion Awards.

Alexa Chung was thrown into a tizzy when organisers told her she was ­supposed to be on stage hosting the show.

She frantically told theBuzz: “I didn’t know I was presenting! I thought I just had to turn up!"

Luckily, Alexa was being had, so the T4 presenter happily headed back to the Tanqueray and champagne reception to meet pals Pixie Geldof, Alice Dellal and Nick Grimshaw.

Yasmin Le Bon (right) was among those looking the most glamorous while a teary Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was less composed.

She ran to the loos barefoot after watching a moving video of the late Isabella Blow. She said: “It was the ­pictures! They really upset me!”

All this while Pixie and Alice ran around the bash like naughty schoolgirls.

Also upset was a pregnant Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who fumbled Jimmy Choo’s award on stage and looked on in horror as her hubby, The Feeling’s Richard Jones, was mistaken for a member of staff.

I think the Giles Deacon range was quite successful, whereas i think the Lily Allen range was a bit blah... so Alexa's range could go either way really.

I don't like that dress at all, it looks ok on her though, looks fine with the jacket. and I dunno about her doing stuff for new look, I mean she dresses well and all but how does that make her a designer? I hate the way any old celebrites can go along and 'design' some clothes. that's if they do it at all. for all we know somebody else would design then alexa might pick the ones she likes and they stick her name on it

Oh, i didn't realise it was that bad. The stuff they showed in Grazia before it came out seemed ok/quite nice..
I agree, i can never find anything in New Look except some plain stuff..
