Alexa Chung

oh so true. i wrote a bit about her for the school paper, saying how i was prepared to hate her for the whole going out with alex turner/long legs thing, but i just can't. she's so funny in interviews. you want to hate her, but goddamit, you just can't.

Yeah the interviews a good un. Woah size 6... I edited this as I don't wan't to be told off. She looks great though, must be scary seeing Clones dressed in Barbour etc.

I’m often uncertain & in two minds about Alexa. I sometimes find her to be quite tedious. Her “style” level pegs in the plethora of 17+ years olds who are just as capable of juxtaposing the co-ordinates of vintage & high street accordingly together. In which result, becomes a quite predictably easy look to pull off. Hers perhaps leading more favourable with the likes of designer names holding things into place. But aesthetically i think her novelty eye in fashion is just wearing off. There wasn't exactly anything that attracted or impressed me about the interview. Nothing other than the introduction which caught my eye, the sarcasm confronted within it & Morley facing the question about having fat legs. I think defending her image by name dropping various 1960's actresses is passé. I found the bracketing of (Trend forecasters listen up) satirically pitiful. Just because Alexa can recognize & de-recognize looks from notable past decades, doesn't mean she dictates the forecast on whats suppose to be the next trend of "originality". I can't really rate her very high for her fashion image. After multiply giving her colums the benefit of the doubt, i unfortunately dislike her writing. I'm however intrigued to see what she has lined up in regards to photography. I'm happy she's a contributing face to the fight against poverty & injustice community with Ctrl.Alt.Shift. as publicly she makes a good candidate for it. It would be promising to see her involved in more things like that.

queenie505, the scans are from the Guardian (the full, readable interview is on the previous page) :flower:

I don't follow these two points. She wasn't "defending her image" - she was asked what older public figures she thought dressed well and answered . The bracketing has nothing to do with Alexa.

But surely one of the reasons many people like and follow her style is because its easily aped. I don't get a case of the green eyed monster every time I like something she is wearing because I know that I can just pop down to the local H&M or Gap to pick up an exact copy [not that I do. ahem.]

By her own admission she dresses the same as everyone else in Shoreditch but I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss her influence on the British highstreet. Having braved the crowds yesterday to do a spot of shopping I was met with row after row of penny loafers, shoe boots and oversized smocked dresses. Their appearance and popularity can surely be attributed in part, if not entirely, to Alexa.

Although I dont agree with much of what you said it was nice to read something constructive and thought out on tFS for a change. I sometimes think there are just a bunch of monkeys hammering their fists down on keyboards....

thanks DS for the scans, I'll see if I can give you karma :flower:
