Alexa Chung

She's always said she's been interested in acting, hasn't she?

I think she may do quite well over here. She'd target a different crowd than Jon Stewart haha. And she'd be viewed as a sort of fashion icon here the same way she is over there. I know Nylon has already acknowledged her. As well as Teen Vogue. So she's already hit some American fashion magazines. Obviously that's no big deal, but still hah.

i like her outfit from the b-day party ^_^ ,cute she's wearing alex's jacket!

I really don't get the idea that she'll "go over" Americans' heads-- as if Americans were incapable of appreciating the use of irony & sarcasm. (Jon Stewart, anyone?)

It's debatable whether her humor would go over well in America, because British humor also employs a haughty tone that Americans do not always appreciate, especially the teenage/young adult MTV set. They like the dry, sarcastic self-depracation that Brits have, but not the haughtiness. You only have to look at the furor over Alexa's "bottles of wee" interview to understand that. Or watch Tom Cruise being interviewed by that Jonathon Ross guy. Emma Thompson has a similar humor to Alexa, and she definitely tones it down in American interviews. But I agree with you that I don't think it would deter her from success, because she has plenty of other crowd-pleasing qualities.

There are many many Americans that love British humor. Blackadder, anything Stephen Fry, Mock The Week, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, Ricky Gervais, Simon Pegg etc.
Alexa might be stylish, pretty, up-and-coming, goofy, extroverted yadda yadda yadda but funny, she's not. Her multiple attempts at funny [Popworld, Get A Grip] haven't really worked so far - fact. She should work on the humor part and her presenting skills because most of the times she comes off as self-involved, aloof and sarky in a negative way.

Emma Thomspon shouldn't be compared to the Chung ever. She's waaayyyy more talented, accomplished, and loved by the public than Alexa would ever hope to be.

I'm not comparing them on the whole, just referring to that kind of haughty, snarky humor. It's not meant to be laugh-out-loud funny, but it is done in jest, and not everyone gets that. I'm not arguing that some British comedies and comedic personalities aren't beloved by Americans, but can't you see that it also leaves a lot of them cold?

Yes, of course, which is why I didn't say "all Americans". I do think US audiences have started warming up to British comedy though.

Ladies, we're about to lose another style inspiration to The United States. Yes, along with Daisy, Peaches and Agy, New York is snapping up another of our Brit girls - Alexa Chung. She excitedly revealed to us last night whilst DJing at the screening of Poltock and Walsh's A/W '09 collection video at the Scream Gallery in Mayfair, that she'll be continuing her TV career over the pond. So with this new prospect beckoning (rumour is it'll be for MTV - shhh), what will the BF, Alex from the Arctic Monkeys, do without her? And more importantly, what'll we do without our weekly fix of her geek chic stylings? Well, turns out Alex will be in New York for a few more months recording and loneliness won't call after that, as Alexa's new pad is a short distance from Daisy's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. But seriously, girls - come back to the motherland soon, won't you?

Howzat for a turnout?

AGYNESS DEYN reacquainted herself with her roots at the weekend with a game of the most English of sports, cricket.

The supermodel, who is based in New York, celebrated the sunny weather by heading to Primrose Hill with pals Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung, Remi Nicole, Henry Holland and Nick Grimshaw for an impromptu celebrity cricket match.
It was the first time Deyn had visited the UK since her split from rock star Albert Hammond Jr.

And she seemed on good form as she caught up with her old friends .
“ They were all having a great time,” said one onlooker. “ But Agyness was the worst at cricket – she won’t be troubling the England selectors.”
After a few overs the group retired for drinks to a nearby pub in Chalk Farm.

I love the look of her hair so far! It looks to be really cute and, as most have agreed, she looked best with a short bob.

I'm kind of excited for her move to New York. Maybe her style will adapt? It could be interesting.

It looks kind of awkward to me haha. I just need to see a bigger picture. I love her with short hair though.

They are similar games from what I gather, lots of running all over the place (I was never really a sporty person...)

Rounders is basically just a diluted version of baseball for kids to play in PE. My guess is, it was rounders.

yeah the papers aren't always correct, i'd go with alexa calling it rounders.
I'm looking forward to more shots of them together.
:D :)

You can not really see a good view of her newly cut hair. When I see bigger pictures, than I will judge if I like it or not:p

they didn't really dress as if they were going to run around and play rounders!
