How is it new, most of these are a poorly knocked off from NG's work at Balenciaga. Even NG himself has moved on.
It was new for him and I don't feel like it was as literal as everyone says. I just felt that there was a more dressed up vibe with this collection which I had a positive response to. But each to their own.

Me too. I thought I was the only one. Regardless of the negative comments. I can see that Alexander is really pushing himself. Well done.

i thought it was okay, i LOVE about 5 looks especially those neon dresses at the beginning but the rest i got bored with

those multicoloured dresses in the end are soo bad - the colours, really???

I don't think there is anything wrong per se about a lof of younger generation designers being inspired by the works of people like Nicolas Ghesquiere just as much as a generation before has been of the work of Martin Margiela, Comme des Garcons or Yohji Yamamoto. It's an evolution of that look in certain parameters, taking into account that it still feels modern and contemporary. I think he's managed to distill his take on it in a way that still seems personal, legitimate and yet perfectly accessible (= one of the reasons why Alexander Wang as a designer and brand is successful to begin with).

it's the late 90s early 2000s thing. the final look crackes me up, not so soon Alex

I liked the trainers as inspiration. It was clever and well-executed.

I like the Sneakers idea but what a staid, unexciting and derivative way to go about the designs based on the great Concept. Where is AW's NY edge?

Imagine if HUssein Chalayan were to take the concept and run with it...and of course have the $$$ support for it...

Defining the avant garde in NY, I feel there's so much more EDGIER energy from Hood By Air, unfortunately I don't see a thread for HBA or for Public School either, which is a lot of fun but still eminently wearable.

I'm so tired of the Wangs, Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung...they are still doing pastiche work, poorly cut and ugly construction, ...in the same vein, can't wait to see what new horrors from Rodarte!
