Alexander Wang S/S 11 New York

I'm yearning for summer again already! Freja's last look was perfection.
Loved the pastel colours and those rope shoes (!)
Definately crazy about this collection.

Although there was a few things i didnt like or understand..i LOVED the collection
i don't understand all this EXTREME hate going in this thread(Not for Nothing he's a CFDA Winner)
the styling was typical Wang, the Hair and make up though hideous fit perfectly, the shoes were gorgeous, the fabric choices were beautiful, the proportions(not including the ugly pant) were exceptional. The Painters overalls, the jackets, the loose silhouettes, color palette, textures....LOVED it all and it made me soo excited for SS 2011

I couldn't agree more.

It looks a bit dated to me...I hate those proportions...

I don't like Alexander Wang. Why ?Because this guy hasn't got a proper vision on fashion. He's just a stylist. That's what happen when rich kids decide to do fashion in many cases. Each season = new direction. He's no Alber Elbaz nor any designer, and I say designer, who started from scratch serving coffee and learning this job step by steps, not by paying money to get a collection done. His label is just "hype" because his garments are photographed on the so called 'rigt' people.

I didn't like the fabrics, especially not those silky dresses that just seemed to hang on the body, no fit at all. Those bronze glitter stripes felt really out of place and I found the mint colour hideous.
Some of the white pieces I did like, as well as the last four looks. I thought he hair was pretty cool. I've got a feeling it might grow a bit in my eyes, so perhaps by spring I'll love it.

For me its better than last collection.
But I dont like hair and make-up

I actually really like this. There were some very nice pieces and I am slowly beginning to like Wang.

i pretty much love the first half of the collection
minus the shoes
i like all the white pieces and the mint green pieces
i wish i could see the accessories better

Initially I was horrified by what I saw. But given time I'm starting to warm up to it, its one of those kinds of collections.

omg, what's wrong with wang?
this is not the best of his collection i think..

but i like the shoes, the white blazer and also the white jackets but the rest.. terrible choice of fabrics..

What a big MESS!
It's so extremely outdated!
Fabrics looks cheap, proportions are all wrong...I'm so tired of seeing this big sacks everywhere...color palette is terrible, and so does the model casting...but what can you expect from "all flowers and rainbows ^_^ :flower: " Alexander Wang?

Oh my goodness...I just hate those rope sandals; whenever I see those type of shoes I cannot help but think how cheap they look. They need to be burned.

Overall I find this a bit too messy for my liking. I like that there was some more colour thrown in, although most of it misses the mark. The pieces that are more fitted (the top on Kamila and the jacket on Shu) are good though and I like the peach dress on Julija (?).

with this collection, alexander wang has declared himself the helmut lang of this generation. honestly, piece by piece, look by look, this collection strikes every fantastic chord that we once saw come down the runways of helmut lang himself. the smart fashion girl would buy every single piece of this stuff and make it her own. we're witnessing a changing of the guard.

See, I agree with you in that this collection has got many easy and fun separates to wear on their own, but that itself, as well as a stripped-down colour palette resulting in tone-on-tone silhouettes, do not make this appear Helmut Lang-ish at all.

With Helmut, there was something decidedly rigourous and purposeful about his clothes and you could not deny the fact that there was a sense of Middle-European conservative-ness about the silhouette and cutting of his designs... Wang lacks this degree of control and singularity of vision that was so much the trademark of Helmut Lang... so having said that, I do not see how the two would artistically compare at all.

There's a lot of pieces I like and a lot of pieces I don't like. Overall, his FW collections are always stronger imo. I look forward to seeing some of the white pants and coloured sweaters in store....
