Other than doing the Victoria's Secret runway for God knows how long, I don't know much more about him.

Alexandre de Betak (born October 5th, 1968) is a French fashion and furniture designer. In 2000, he began his involvement in the production of Victoria's Secret shows, producing and choreographing their shows for many years. Alexandre is known as the Fellini of fashion for his 15-minute shows. 2003 marked his debut in design, when he created an acrylic glass bookshelf and a leather bench with French design house Domeau & Perez.

I always see him in Style.com/Fashion TV podcasts, but I really don't know much about him other than the fact that his wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. He's a runway producer, but what does that mean? Does he help design sets, music, lighting, etc?

I assume so.

I remember back in 2001 he discussed the VS runway and how the colors would change in the background. And he's always telling the models when they leave for the catwalk. Like 2005 with Morgane, telling her to grab Dita's legs and then telling Andi to "show [her] profile, arching the back." (Yes, I know it word for word :p)

Now Screening | ‘Fellini of Fashion’
By STEPHEN HEYMAN

The French fashion show producer Alexandre de Betak is known for infusing the runways of everyone from Christian Dior to Rodarte and Victoria’s Secret with the drama and danger of cutting-edge performance art. (T’s Alix Browne visited de Betak’s Paris apartment in 2005.) In the first of a two-part video, “Fellini of Fashion,” our friends at the online video magazine thecrane.tv take a tour inside his smithy of the spectacular. “Some shows we work on for six months,” de Betak says. “Some shows I’ve worked on the set for a year — literally, absolutely. All for 12 minutes, sometimes 10. C’est la mode.”

By STEPHEN HEYMAN

In the first part of thecrane.tv’s special, “Fellini of Fashion,” designers like John Galliano and Viktor & Rolf gushed over the runway producer Alexandre de Betak’s creative vision. Now, in Part Deux, the Frenchman talks about how he reached his privileged perch.
