Alison Veness-McGourty soon to be editor-in-chief of Grazia Australia

I couldn't find a thread for her, or about her upcoming role as editor-in-chief for Australia's version of Grazia Magazine, so I decided to start one! (hope it's ok!)
This article has been around for some time on the internet, but I'd thought I'd post it here anyway because it;s quite relevant:

ACP MAGAZINES ANNOUNCES EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GRAZIA

WEDNESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2008
ALISON VENESS-MCGOURTY ANNOUCED AS EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GRAZIA
SYDNEY: ACP Magazines today announced that Alison Veness-McGourty has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Grazia, the international fashion weekly magazine which will launch in Australia this Spring.
Nicki Ellis been appointed to the role of Sales Director, Grazia.
Grazia (Italian for Grace) was first published in Italy in 1938 by Mondadori, Italy's biggest publisher of consumer magazines and one of the leading players in the sector in Europe. Grazia is now published in nine countries, including the UK, Greece and Portugal.
Pat Ingram, Group Publisher, Women's Lifestyle, ACP Magazines, said: "Alison will lead a world-class, high profile editorial team, whose collective talent and flair will ensure the title is a hit with consumers and advertisers alike.
"Grazia has been an unrivalled success in other markets, and is now set to make an incredible impact in Australia."
Since inception, Grazia has found global acclaim in the magazine and fashion arenas. Itwill create a new genre in Australia publishing, as the first weekly magazine to combine news, fashion and celebrity.
Alison Veness-McGourty, said, "Grazia is a red hot publishing phenomenon which is pushing editorial and creative boundaries across the globe - and it's fantastic to be offered this challenge.
"We are in the process of appointing a dynamic line-up of acclaimed journalists, writers and fashion experts. News with shoes - yes, it's a dream role."
Alison joins Grazia from Harper's BAZAAR. During her eight years at the title, Harper's BAZAAR has grown to become the country's most respected prestige fashion magazine. Alison will remain as editor of Harper's BAZAAR until April.
A new editor of Harper's BAZAAR will be announced shortly.
During her five year career at ACP Magazines, Nicki Ellis has held the positions of National Advertising Manager, Harper's BAZAAR, and most recently as Sales Director at The Australian Women's Weekly.
Pat Ingram, Group Publisher, Women's Lifestyle, ACP Magazines said, "Nicki has an outstanding industry reputation and she is an incredible asset to the business."
Nicki Ellis said, "I am thrilled at this opportunity. Grazia presents a compelling proposition for advertisers and I look forward to working with the distinguished team of publishing professionals on this incredibly exciting launch."

So what do you think? I'm pretty excited about Grazia magazine coming to Australia ^_^, and I think Alison wasn't a too shabby editor for Harpers Bazaar Australia, but then I don't think I know much...

I'm looking forward to Grazia in Australia!

I think Alison Veness-McGourty was a very strong editor for Harper's Bazaar too and helped it find it's own voice apart from other Australian magazines as well as its international counterpart. The fact that it's the only Harper's Bazaar in the world which outsells Vogue is saying something!

I remember reading somewhere that she's British... will post more articles when I find them

I had no idea, i bought few Australian HB and i have to say they are light years ahead of Austrailan Vogue, and they very often got big names to pose exclusively for their covers.its a shame she will leave it for Grazia though.

thanks for cicciolina and miss_dalloway for posting! I was initially kinda scared I was starting a rubbishy post that no one would post on, and I'd be talking myself. :D and yes! please post articles if you can find any cicciolina and... everyone else! :flower:

I didn't know that HB Australia was outselling Vogue Aus- you learn something new everyday! HB usually puts celebrities on their covers instead of models right?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Alison being editor-in-cheif of Grazia Australia... I'm wondering if she'll edit the magazine in the way she has with Bazaar, or maybe she'll come up with a fresh change?

HB out sells Vogue in sales and advertising. All you have to do is look. Thats said, AV is going to do a fine job at Grazia and will provide us with 52 weeks of fashion a year. She also brought along with her Mr Vassallo as her Fashion Director. That is key because he was really responsible for lifting the game over at Bazaar when he was there as their Style Director.

Since no thread exists for her and just a couple of single posts from her Grazia & HB Australia days, I thought I'd create one with this new news:

New fashion title to launch Down Under

European fashion magazine 10 is set to launch in Australia following a licensing deal between UK publisher Zac Publishing and Australia's Alison Veness Publishing.

The multi-platform luxury women’s fashion title 10; and 10 Men will also launch in South East Asia under the deal.

10 and 10 Men Australia will be published as hard copy magazines biannually in February and August, and the 10 Australia digital platforms will launch in September.

The Australian editions will be published concurrently with the UK and share an international staff and top creative names.

Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, editor-in-chief of 10 UK and Director of Zac Publishing said: “10 and 10 Men is a natural fit for Australian consumers who are internationally renowned for their love of fashion and have a thirst for luxury across all platforms.

"10 is an independent, free-thinking and credible fashion destination among a plethora of formulaic, celebrity-obsessed publications."

Alison Veness said: “The opportunity to publish both 10 and 10 Men Australia, followed by editions in South East Asia, fulfils a personal passion to publish and edit a new and exciting title across all platforms with unparalleled fashion content and authority.”

The news comes after favourable results for many monthly fashion titles in the half yearly audit, which saw NewsLifeMedia's Vogue, Morrison Media's Frankie and Switzer's Russh all jump in circulation year-on-year.

Alison Veness started Grazia for Nine Entertainment Co's ACP in 2008 and was editorial director of Harper's Bazaar.
