" Moody Blues "

Beyond the stunning models I really loved creative director Michel Botbol's subtle visual intrigue: the milky, reflective split page/image play.
Also note the similarities in Bridget and Diane Kendal's opposing profiles along with the varying page perspectives.
No theatrical type or overshadowing typography; just beautiful photographs presented in a clever yet simple way.

^I have to agree, just harmonious.

^ really? scott, one thing i liked about Kate's covers were they actually reflected the editorial content found inside the magazine. are you referencing the overall mood, theme of the magazine?
altho i personally loved the issues she produced, i think her vision of making HB more user-friendly, street-smart actually worked against her, esp the way she went about it. Featuring of the minute, yet to be established movers and shakers from the art and fashion world and independent power suit types may have alienated many readers and reflected in circulation. Like you said Kate lacked that commercial balance Liz perfected. Also even when Liz did feature more avant-garde high brow art types she always injected a sense of glamour and fantasy which made it more accessible and exciting for readers. Kate went too Art and not enough Pop, which apparently did not translate into a more street-wise, "of the people" fashion magazine. gee. granted her magazine was more user-friendly!

well, like i said,i loved the approach she was trying to establish. in that she was actually one of the few who did put the underrated talents on the forefront. in fact,at the time, some people were comparing it to a supermarket-shelf version of nylon and V....when they were at their best.

the cover thing though to me just felt a little disjointed. like you said, she tried to maintain something user-friendly by putting a lot of these commercial girls on the cover but then i would turn the pages and would see a much different attitude in stories most times with a much edgier brood of girls.

Although aesthetically speaking my favorite years for fashion are 1997 & 1998, sentimentally my heart will always be with 1995-1996:heart: I loved the return to simplified dressing with a retro 60s twist. In those years designers created a stir with "toned-down glamour" which struck a nice balance between 90s diy, half-hazard grunge look and the more 'done' 90s fade out excess, of 80s power dressing:

I just realized there's another thread for her... I'll post it here anyway.

Merging all three of her threads into the current one. The title reflects her current job.

It is OK to post her previous work for Baazar and Vogue ... this thread is about her, her work and her style.

ooh! one of my favorite layouts. i'll have to go dig up some others.
