Amal Clooney

Maybe the thinking is that if the outfits are that bad, the photographers will leave

@Not Plain Jane
Anna Wintour gave her style advise for the Met Ball. Sooo.. it is save to say that she is her stylist?

she dresses like any average western european who tries to be stylish but has no clue. i've seen it on the streets too many times.

i dont like anything i see in regards to the ´´LAX´´ pics :ermm:

It's a pretty lace top, and I like denim trousers ... just don't think any one of the pieces put together really belongs

very hit and miss stylewise - that look above is awful. she looks bad in these loose, wide-legged jeans, almost like a child, with no hips. and then to add that mannish hat with a little lace top and silver boots? how incongruous and strange!!

I also have an issue with her jeans most of the time (like, for example, in this latest look). I happen to think that the flare or bootcut STYLE would flatter her super long legs if they FIT correctly. Flares should be fitted at the top and then gradually widening towards the bottom, never loose at the waist & hips. 99% of the time, Amal's jeans seem slouchy at the waist, hips and butt, this accentuates their slimness (and not in a good way), she may be able to get away with this (personally I don't think so) with a more casual boyfriend-style of jean, but definitely not with flares. They look very unflattering on her figure
She could get them tailored for her newly slimmer figure, or just get some jeans her own size, since it looks as if these are about 2 sizes to big.

@petit fours - i agree that she's kind of all over the place. she doesn't seem as confident as i had originally thought she was, especially based on her career. and she definitely has a weak "identity" in terms of her style.

at first i thought amal might be a little like carolyn bessette, but carolyn had a very strong sense of herself and of her own fashion sense, which makes sense, since she worked in the industry.

amal doesn't seem to know what her style is, and maybe that's why she comes across as insecure sometimes in photos? suddenly everything she wears is photographed. it must be quite the experience and change for her.

does she have a stylist, i wonder?

I don't know about the stylist. It sure seemed she did on her wedding week in Venice, but now I'm not so certain. It looks like designers are throwing clothes at her left and right, so maybe she's obligated to wear them. I also suspect she has some sort of deal with Giambattista Valli, she always wears at least one item by him in every public appearance. Even though this is standard practice for Hollywood actresses/celebrities, she herself might be hesitant to admit such a deal since she's not the Hollywood player herself: her husband is.
Before being married to George, she had a confident style base (albeit with some faux pas) as you said; she should work on polishing it instead of just piling on the freebies OR blindly listening to Anna Wintour and team. She obviously does care about fashion and beauty, and -if not her, than her husband- has more than enough money to explore what her particular style might be. I hope she does, it'll be interesting to watch.

Her look at the airport is so bad! the hat, the lace top...nothing works there

i agree cleo715. nicely put. it's fun to watch someone's style evolve, esp if they find what suits them best.

to me, she's a classy lady. i like her in clean lines and more classic minimalism, like that white balenciaga top. i'm not as fond of her in overtly feminine or flirty things nor do i find she suits edgy. just look at her hair; it's a timeless kind of classic style. she could also do a more femme fatale classic look, too, methinks. but i'm not fond of the busy milan looks on her.

What is the source of the photos?

Love the Cardigan! Best left to the tall and straight shouldered, though, like Amal

ID on her boots: they're ASH Panda Reverse Boots. I'll update with ID on the cardigan

I see she's quite a fan of these boots which double as heels/wedges. It's too 'hip-hop' for my taste and doesn't suit her style. Otherwise everything looks great, especially the cardigan.

(...) she doesn't seem as confident as i had originally thought she was, especially based on her career. and she definitely has a weak "identity" in terms of her style.

That's actually what I find most striking about her outfits. To me she often looks insecure and like she was trying hard, dressing for the paparazzi. Seriouly, the woman is a barrister, has spoken before the European Court of Human Rights, is teaching at Columbia Law School etc etc etc. There really is no need for her to compete with all those Girls that turned "style Icon" into a regular occupation. - let alone that with her looks she'd just look stunning in the most simple clothes. I guess she's just insanely ambitious/perfectionist.

I do like some of her Outfits, especially the more serious ones, even though that's generally not really my coup of tea. Her casual style often looks too forced IMO (hence not literally "casual").

To me her clothes don't reflect the dignity of her career. Personally I would like to see the goofy factor eliminated, and more elegance in its place :ninja:

arriving at Haneda Airport on Sunday (May 24) in Tokyo, Japan

just jared

The sabbatical year does wonders for her. She looks so happy and relaxed. I'm not fond of the espandrillos, but the rest looks fantastic.

I don't know anymore. She kind of just reminds me of a Real Housewife of (insert whatever city) now.

I like the colour of that airport dress, but that's about it. It looks too crafty for my liking.
