Exclusive: Shiloh Fernandez and Amber Heard will topline the indie "Syrup."

Aram Rappaport will helm the project with Barrie M. Osborne and Cameron Lamb producing through Lila 9th Productions. Fotress Features is exec producing.

The pic is based off Max Barry tome about marketing told through the soda industry and the backstabbing and corporate ladder climbing of twentysomethings trying to make it to the top. Rappaport and Barry co-wrote the script.

Production will start this summer in New York.

Fernandez was most recently seen in "Red Riding Hood," and Heard can be next seen starring opposite Johnny Depp in "The Rum Diary."

She is also set as one of the stars of the NBC pilot "Playboy."

^I have my fingers crossed that her Rum Diary part will be that role! The movie is being released at the end of October, so just in time for all the hub bub that comes along with awards season. If it's actually a good movie, then it will get Amber the hype and exposure she deserves.

She is also doing tv (she shot the pilot for "Playboy" which has the potential to become a great show, in a "Mad Men" way) but she is still doing movies. If "The rum diary" will turn out to be a good movie and win some awards, i think she could become a really big star.

Thanks so much for the updates everyone! I'm thrilled that The Playboy Club got picked up and I'll happily watch Amber on my TV every week come fall.

I don't know what to make of that trailer but I do know that that is a poor man's Don Draper.

I have a feeling this could either be really good or really bad and to be honest I kind of want it to be bad so it will get cancelled and Amber can go back to movies. No offense to TV-actors, it's just that the majority of characters don't stay good or well written very long on TV and I want to see her do different roles.

I don't know what her agent was thinking getting this deal for her just when the Rum Diary comes out, a film that could possibly put her on the map. I think someone else said this before and I agree with them, I will always see Amber as a movie star, she just has IT.

I can't say I'm excited for The Playboy Club because it's on NBC. It'll probably be very tame and watered down. It would've been perfect for HBO/Showtime. Amber Heard seems like someone who is about to become a movie star any minute now. She even has a movie star name.
