Anja Rubik

for those who are anti-fur, anja i think is a firm believer in animal rights and has taken upon herself to condemn cruelty upon animals in the past and i recall that she attributed her passion for the cause to the vet business her parents run. for those of a different opinion on animal rights, i am glad she isn't too forceful with her views and doesn't impose it on others.

Still though if she was really against fur she wouldn't wear it at all, not in photoshoots, not on the runway, or in her personal wardrobe, like Lily Cole. Although, I do appreciate that she is against animal cruelty. And I guess if you are going to wear fur its better that you get it from somewhere that treats the animals well.......but even in that case I still don't think fur is okay.

that her personal life, let her be!!
if she like fur,is her persona choices. if you dont like it move on,next. really is OKAY!!

^It's not personal when she talks about it in a tv and it's a forum where we can share our opinion.

just because one is anti-fur it doesn't mean she has to take a maximalist position on it: for anja, it means not buying it herself but taking gifts made from animals, and for you it means not wearing any fur - and for a person more radical than you it likely means splashing paint on and hurling eggs on anyone wearing fur on the street. let me just say maximalism in controversial issues like this doesn't help win converts to your cause.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, I just don't consider that as being anti-fur. We can agree to disagree :flower:

My point is I don't think it is fair for her to say she anti-fur when she is seen wearing it all the time. I will always love Anya, but I just didn't like how she was making excuses for wearing fur while saying she is against it. (She also said most of the fur she owns were gifts, not all of it). She clearly has some moral concerns about fur and seems to be on the fence about whether or not fur is okay, however she still chooses to wear it. I would rather her just say something like "Look, In order to succeed in the fashion industry as a model, you have to be agreeable to wearing fur. That's my choice and I have to live with it, even if I have some moral concerns about fur." But that's just me....

yeah, I understand it´s unrealistic to expect all models to decline wearing fur at work. I´m not judging her for that, it just saddens me that someone I like would choose to wear fur in her personal life... but like people said, it´s her life and it´s not like I know her.

oh my god, her excuse was just so.. i mean, really, that was the most ridiculous excuse i've ever heard! i'm anti fur, i respect anja's choice though - my respect for her as a model won't change at all - but i just can't believe she said that! that was really lame

first, apart from her jobs - runway, campaigns - where she is required to wear fur, i just don't recall seeing anja in fur that often in candids

second, at this point i think an exact translation of what anja said into english would be welcome because i honestly don't know just what part of the interview came across as wrong to some of you.

third, judging from the stuff anja said and did in the past half decade, i say anja is consistently anti-fur and consistently advocates better treatment of animals. now we see that she embraces perhaps only a "softcore" version of the ideology, but as i said ideological purity is bound to hinder the political aspirations of the more hardcore constituents of the animal rights and anti-fur movement.

It's quite obvious that Anja can't refuse to wear fur during photoshoots. That would mean that she wouldn't work for US Vogue or any other magazine (like Rado said, Fernanda did it once and as a consequence, she disapear from modeling). Also, Anja would not work for Fendi and many other brands, who use fur.

This whole situation was created by tabloids in Poland and one girl that is in Top Model cast. She's trying to get some publicity and proof that she the best "model" that we have ever have in Poland. In fact she's not! Off course maybe Anja said about it in a bad contest and I agree that her excuse wasn't the best but in the era of the internet and blogs/... she can't say anything wrong about the industry she's working in. It would be a suicide for her. Off course killing animals for fur/skin is horible and I'm against that as well, but in fact, how many of us who against killing animals for fur or leather, is doing anything to actually stop it?

^ Actually, yes. I don't buy fur or wear fur. If every person in the world refused to buy or wear fur.... there would no longer be a market for fur.

I agree. As I said.......

:innocent:

To bring this conversation back to Anja, I was really glad to see her in the latest issue of Vogue US. After Anna Wintour had cut that mega-ed she shot for US Vogue, I was worried that Anna had decided she didn't Anja anymore more.

don't think so - anja got a few polish elle covers from years back

Anja having her own TV show? I'd rather see her in magazines. I love the new Fendi shots my Vogue September issue hasn't come yet. I am getting rather mad at my post office..

Could you tell what does she speaks about?I only understood the Anja Rubik-Oprah Winfrey part:flower:

The main idea is that Anja will make some interview with people from fashion world like Karl, Amanda Harlech, Iman, ... and many of Anja's friends. But she is worried that this job will change her role in modeling. She's afraid that designers, photographer will not be interested with working with her and they will think that she's more a journalist than a model. It's one big idea, no decision had been made yet. Anja had to think about it, if the interviews will be bad for her modeling career.
