You're all welcome

No doubt she's still with Lukasz
Finally the last part of the interview
What does Lukasz do in New York?
Anja: He passed his final exam yesterday. We're very happy. I had my little share in that because Lukasz is more into exact sciences, he was studying finances, but over the last term he had to write essays for literature classes. He was begging me to do it for him. I said I would write just the first essay. It was about one of my favourite poets, Emily Dickinson. Lukasz got the best mark! After that I had to write essays all term long because Lukasz was afriad that the teacher would find out that it wasn't his style of writing. Now we're waiting until Lukasz gets papers that will enable him to work. He's awfully talented and I'm sure he will find a job soon.
Isn't he jealous of your colorful life?
Anja: Maybe he was at the beginning, but now he's not. He's reliable and determined. He gives me a lot of support. There are days when I'm enough of everything - then Lukasz always says: "Brace yourself. That's the work you've dreamed of". And that's what I need in such moments.
Did you have those moments when you cared about doing some advertising and you weren't chosen?
Anja: Of course. Many times. Work of a model is interesting, but also very stressful. The worst thing is that almost nothing depends on us (/is up to us?) and that-generally- we exist because of other people. I've learned not to take what people were saying about me personally. The hardest part was when I was coming to a casting and I was told I was too pretty. I used to go mad because how is that possible to be
too pretty?! When I heard it for the first time, I decided to start preparing to castings more carefully. Before going to a meeting with a photographer, I was reading everything about him. I started wearing T-shirts, trainers and shorts. One day when I was dressed like this, Lukasz looked at me terrified and asked: "Where are you going?". "To a casting. How do I look?". "As if you prefer girls"- he said. "It's all about that"- I said. That sounds like a joke, but it's not funny most of the time.
Do you miss Lukasz when you're doing fashion shows?
Anja: 2 weeks is a safe time. When I don't see him for a longer time, I start going crazy. Luckily, my sister Asia often comes to see me in Paris. She's got a 6-years old son and she teaches English at school in Czestochowa. She's got a lot of distance to the fashion world and I like that thing about her. She's my closest friend. I'd love her to live near me, but right now it's not possible.
Do you help your family by sending them money?
Anja: My parents would never agree. I can only give them presents. I've recently bought them a Mediterranean Sea cruise on their 25th wedding anniversary. And I took my sister to shopping in Paris. I was laughing a lot because famous fashion houses don't impress her at all. I was persuading her: choose what you want. She was just turning up her nose. We went to a Louis Vuitton boutique. I'm showing her a beautiful bag and she says: "
Nice, but I don't like these logos". "
People pay fortunes to have these logos!"- I was explaining, but I didn't convince her.
Do you spend a lot of money on clothes?
Anja: I like buying clothes, but my hand sometimes shakes. When I see something lovely, I call Lukasz and ask him: "
Do you think I can buy it?" and then he's angry: "
It's your money. You've earned them. Buy whatever you want"
Is Lukasz the man you want to spend your life with?
Anja: We're feeling good with each other. We're not planning a wedding right now.
We got engaged this February
heart
. We'll see what's going to happen. We don't know where we would like to live. New York is wonderful, but maybe it's worth to move to Los Angeles? Now we enjoy every free day. For instance, today we want to buy boards so that Lukasz could build a cupboard for our flat. Maybe I will cook a cake in the afternoon? I adore it, but Lukasz shouts that I make him eat because I care about my figure. So we'd better go to the cinema.
