Apple's iPhone

it only comes out in asia in 2008
i wonder how long the battery life will be though...
all them fancy screens and high resolutions are going to suck a lot of energy

^^^

5 hours while browsing internet/talking on phone

16 hours if solely used for music purposes.

i've stopped believing apple's claims about battery life after my ipod nano (supposedly with 14 hours of battery life) only ever lasted 8 hours at the most

I'm sure you don't have to switch to cingular. You could wait for it to come out in the UK or elsewhere on pay as you go (which to me isn't as big in North America as it is in the UK) unlock the phone from whatever network you signed on with (really easy) and then join whatever plan you wanted to.

Anyway it looks great but I thought there was something in the media a couple of days ago about apple not being apple to use the term 'iPhone' as someone else had trademarked it a long time ago. Does anyone else know what i'm talking about?

Linksys came out with an "iPhone" in the end of 2006.

Clearly Apple must have somehow gotten the rights to the name.

thanks blondes - that is exactly what I was talking about. I wonder if apple may just buy out this ocean telecoms business (i think quite common in registering trademarks) if they aren't already acting on their behalf.

My guess is that there is no "Ocean telecom", that was just a company set up to register the rights to the name without reveiling Apples upcoming release.

that would make perfect sense (i mean the reason for doing it via a third party instead of themselves). duh. Your insight is shaming me!

I want one. $500 isn't so bad really. I was looking at a phone for $500 that was nothing compared to this. I do worry about how much dirt it would pick up though, and how resilient it would be.

I think resiliancy is a good question since it must be more open to breakage since it's basically a screen. But I think Americans/Canadians totally get shafted when it comes to cellphones compared to the UK. Most phone companies give away their high end phones for free with various price plans whereas in NA you have to pay for the plan AND the phone

I want one, i want one ... but i wonder when will we have it here, prolly aroooound 2015.

well this phone is gonna be worth the $600. If you have never had an ipod and need a phone, its worth it.

But, I hate that you only have one carrier such as cingular for your service. ew.

If you are impressed by the pictures, look at the video of the perfection in action!

when i saw it in action i was literally looking at the screen with my mouth open  it's incredibly amazing!
i've been expecting for it to come out for almost half a year, too bad it's gonna take forever to get here...

You could be one of us poor Canadian soles that will have to wait for a carrier agreement in Canada or get it unlocked :(

^ Just what I was thinking. Amazing design, but I'm not switching to Cingular.

just get it unlocked, seriously people, it's pretty easy. Get it off ebay unlocked or get it from the UK and unlock it.

I love the design, ugh I hate my Chocolat LG phone now that I've seen this one. Note, I've only had my LG for 4 days.

he he, dont know about you, but the chocolate is without doubt the most un user friendly mobile I have ever owned. I have had mine two months now, the temptation to throw it from the window of my car at high speed is now getting harder to control

I love it! But my problem is, I already have an iPod and since the iPhone is quite music based, I'd be carrying around 2 gadgets which do the same thing.

I was thinking about doing that, once it comes out if it's possible to unlock it, and others have succeeded in doing so I will definitely cop the iphone.
