I thought that since Armor has been cemented as a trend since emerging in Paris, it was time to devote a thread to it.

From Medieval to Mugler, it's all there. Chainmail, anatomical contours, imposing shapes...

Whether it's infused into the cut and construction of a jacket, or dresses embellished with plates of metal, it's official, women will be dressing for protection come spring/summer

It's also something I've been obsessed with as of late.

it's not my cup of tea but i enjoy some of these examples. like rick owens' version. very nice.

Actually, it goes back to the f/w 06 rtw. It wasn't as strong an influence as in the Dior couture show, but it was there.

Prada had structured bustiers covered with heavy metal beadwork. YSL has metal touches in necklines and belts, as well as that gold plexiglass collar/breastplate. Junya Watanabe was all about a post-appocalyptic warrior punk, Paco Rabanne felt very mod/medieval in the cuts and shapes....

So the groundwork was there, Dior took it to the next level.

I really love this trend. I want to see some that are brave enough to wear those Balenciaga golden leg armor pieces. ^_^

I think this is an amazing trend. Its strong, its sexy, its almost intimidating. I love it. I think its a reflection of the chaotic and often violent times in which we live, clothing is now acting a protective device or at the very least looking like one.

my friend did this as a fashion project once...she made it look cool. i think it's a visually interesting think to look at but not at all versatile. it's something that'll stay on the runway, i think. though the chains and metallics could easily translate.

I think I more liked the idea of freedom of the boho trend than the message an armor sends me.

As clothes these are much better of course.

I think Balenciaga's a lot, others don't think they can count for me..... I wish this trend will develope.

i think these ones also look like armour...

some of it is nice, but too literal for my liking. i'm more into the shapes of armor rather. some of the textures here are aggressive, imo, and seems heavy. i like miu miu and rick owens the best when it comes to the armor trend.

I absolutely love this - albeit more so the idea than the execution in a few of the cases.

It was also CdG SS06, with big arms and "ball" shape jkts with huge "stitchings". The FIT is organizing an exhibition called The Weaponized Woman. It is more than "protection". I like this trend:-)

where is DOLCE & GABBANA? why Comme des Garçons?
I def. disagree about (i made a list) :
1st one ( it's more "metalic"-ish. I mean just the colour makes it "armor")
Balmain (same here)
CDG
Hamissh Morrow
Prada (what the hell is armor in this?)
Miu Miu (i def. like the geometric thing. but c'mone! is there any "insects" trend?)
