The end of designer jeans?

To each their own Hed Kandi... ...I absolutely HATE those kinds of low jeans... So tacky... i wish those who buy designer jeans could come up with at least 5 DECENT reasons before buying a 300$+ pair... To be tacky!? no thanks.

Low rise tacky ? Umm..no. Low rise is perhaps the best compliment to the female body figure as it forms and shapes in just the right areas.

And you don't have to spend $300 to get a great pair of jeans (although I do) but I'd suggest checking out something like http://www.revolveclothing.com/ as they've got more than enough selection denim to please almost any budget.

I'm all about a good fit - and if it costs $200+ to get it, I'll pay gladly. Personally, I think cheaper jeans (in general) are a false economy; they don't last as long, lose their shape, etc. On the other hand, I've had great luck with "premium denim." (Save for 3 pairs of Earl jeans that all ripped in the same place  ) Great quality, great fit...what's not to like ^_^

Sorry.. but low rise can be really tacky... especially when the girl has some "whale tail" going on... Yick! Nothing worse than seeing a girls thong hanging out of her pants.

I don't prefer high waist or mom jeans... and while I do usually only wear "low rise"... those ones that Hed Kandi posted were more like "Gyno rise" to me

Oh, and whoever asked. Gap is giving out free songs from iTunes for every pair jeans that you buy/try on

I like my premium denim - I'm all about fit and it seems like only brands from certain brands flatter my butt and legs. I think this is less a case of snobbery than it is about fit. If I could find a divine pair of jeans for $50, you can be sure that I'll snap it up in a heartbeat.

Of course I also agree that not all premium denim are worth their ticket price. I think Swarvoski embellished back pockets are too much for me, and some premium brands are more hype than anything else.

Unfortunately in my case, for my body type, I do get what I pay for :(

I think the prices of jeans are getting crazy, I don't mind 100+, but 200 or 300 is to much IMO.

But I think designer jeans have become pretty mainstream , so I don't think they are going away.

i personally hate designer jeans, i think it makes people look like try hards, but whatever works for you best then to each their own. If low rise jeans dont work for you, and a lil whale tail is showing, maybe thats not for you, i think people should jsut buy whats best for them and not what people are telling them is best.

Denim only works when it fits you well.. and I guess if the only jeans that you can find that fit you are like 200 bucks.. then I guess you've got to buy them. There's nothing worse than seeing a person wear a pair of jeans that don't fit them...

And it's even worse when I see girls trying to squeeeeze into their jeans (when they obviously don't fit into them) and their bellies and love handles are hanging out... it basically makes them look like a ball on top of two legs...

It's all about fit... and what works for you.

I pay a ton for jeans, and that's because there's only one brand that truly fits me, and it happens to be one of the most expensive out there. If I couldn't afford them, I'd just have to look like crap.

My husband has the same problem! He's got one brand that works - and he pays for it.

Personally I don't take what anyone proclaims "in" or "out" with more than a grain of salt, this whole thing is crazy. I highly doubt that anyone's going to stop buying designer denim, the quality is so much better and often the fit as well. I can find good quality, cheaper jeans (Abercrombie), sure, but you can tell the difference between a cheaply made pair and a pair of designer jeans.

The quality of Dior Homme jeans is unmatchable(for men at leat). If I was to go to Express for jeans, they would rip in a year, I want something that will last a lifetime.

one can only hope that sanity will prevail and we will see an end to this madness...

...:ninja:...

Just got a pair of 1969 Gap straight leg they are killer, the fit is great.

I think most designer jeans are total swindle. Jeans are the most boring, utilitarian thing, and just because some "designer" signs his name to 'em, dumps some bleach on 'em, and embroiders a bunch of loopty-loops on the back pocket doesn't make them any better or more functional. Some people rave on about how the fabric feels so much nicer, but I notice pretty much all jeans are made out of very soft, lightweight denim these days. A poor choice for daily wear--too delicate!

I honestly can't tell the difference between a pair of Seven/Earl/Diesel/TrueReligion jeans from the ones from Abercrombie/Hollister/Rampage/Delia's. They all look the same. Skinny, too low, "distressed" :yuk: with gobs of fancy stitching on the butt and maybe some trick belt-loops.

I like Levi's 550s (men's) which are a very plain, ordinary bluejean with a zip fly and slightly loose legs. I have Thighs Of Impending Doom on account of my bicycling addiction, and can't wear skinny jeans anyway.

I'm am (or rather used to be) a big fan of A.P.C. unisex jeans, but I like the old ones much better than the new. I've only ever owned two pairs and got them both on eBay for under $30 a pair, already well on their way to being broken-in. I guess they were probably from the late '90s. Now they have tons of different models --pre-faded ones as well sadly, but at least they are somewhat subtle-- and they have raised the price from $109 closer to $150. :( I don't think they even use Japanese denim/looms anymore. I may still wear them if I can find more old, used ones that have a skinnier cut like Dior Homme jeans, otherwise I've got a great pair of tight 501s I've been wearing lately and I am more than happy to just keep with Levis. I mean I can appreciate the beauty of a perfectly constructed pair of jeans made from Japanese selvedge denim, but to be honest I really don't care if I am wearing that pair as long as what I am wearing is subtle and classic looking...

Also I've really liked Helmut Lang jeans in the past because early on he did so many things right (probably the first was to base the low-key design of his jeans off of 501s) and the quality of fabric and the slimness of the cut, but the same things happened to them. They became too expensive, with too many ridiculous washes to buy the new ones. And now with the fate of the company it is hopeless...
