The end of designer jeans?

I believe that designer jeans (and everything designer for that matter, bags, clothes, shoes) are OVERpriced. But i also believe that they are the best quality. Of course 1.500$ are WAY TOO MUCH for a bag, but this bag definately costs more than a regular non-designer 50$ bag.

So, designer jeans definately have the best quality, but regular jeans are also good. Don't forget that once, Levi's Jeans where the best of the best. So what, they don't have good quality nowadays? Don't think so.

Bottom line, as almost everyone said, the best jeans are the ones that fits perfectly on you, regardless of the price (designer, non-designer).

And if you're happy with your jeans, then... that's all you need to know.
Besides, since we are all fashion-people, we know that clothes doesn't make you cool, you make them:flower:

i'm sought of turning off designer jeans just because every second girl over here is wearing sass and bides, and i'm not exagerating. i own three pairs myself but i bought these before they were so popular. sass and bide jeans really are the best jeans though, as they fit so well but its just annoying that all these school girls buy them just cuz its cool.

I´m personally not feeling over-designed, too-low cut jeans anymore... it doesn´t mean that I´m all for the high-rise, but especially for girls (and some men´s designers like d-squared or dolce & gabbana), they should definitely be higher cut. We´re not talking of low rise pants, these have more than once been explained as "pubic pants"... doesn´t it already express the vulgarity of these cuts? Also with regards to the gimmicks of so-called designer´s jeans... simply have a look on a pair of true religions or serfontaine, it´s an overkill of details - coloured stitches, extreme washes, all so very contrived looking. Denim should have as less details as possible to look good, that´s what I loved about Helmut Lang, A.P.C., Dior Homme, ACNE or even Earnest Sewn/Paper Denim. Raw denim is a definite turn-on for me, I must admit, hehe.

I personally own jeans from several labels, not only the high-end Dior that I´ve worn for quite some time, it´s also good to know there are reliable, less expensive choices on the market. ACNE´s are good and sometimes even more precisely-fitted for my skinny stature while keeping the washes simple and on a decent quality. I can´t tell about any high-street label jeans (H&M, GAP, etc.) since I never bought any in there... H&Ms don´t look so well with all the coloured stitches and buttons, I´d rather spend a little more to match better with my taste... after all, I´d rather wear in a favourite pair than having tons that you rarely wear.

Can Denim Brands Fall Off?

A friend an I were dicussing this an we were talking if denim brands can get old or out of fashion primarly.. premium denim brands.
I was pondering buying a pair of True Religions but would the song "My Humps" give the brand to much mass popularity an lead to its demise.
Or how 7 Jeans had its whole brand fiasco with being at Express Stores.
But its still carried at top dept. stores So with brands like Seven,COH,True Religion,Rock&Republic,Blue Cult,575,etc Do you think those brands can fall off or once Premium Denim Brand You Never leave the circle?

At the very beginning of the high end denim craze I was...skeptical, at best that jeans could differ. A friend kept telling me the "wonders" of Sevens, I shrugged, and secretly smirked at how much money she was "wasting" and I was saving. Fast forward to now. I've since changed my tune. I mostly only wear either Sevens or Citizens. I had tried True Religion, but for awhile they didn't flatter me. I tried Blue Cult, still not a fan. Then I tried another pair of TR's...and surprise they worked.

It's not about the label for me. It's about the fit. If it had been about the label I would have sucked it up and gotten TR's initially when the craze was still huge. I was in Levi's yesterday, tried on some skinnies, and they weren't for me. No biggie. I'll stick to what works for me- slight flare or trouser styles, with a little boyfriend cut here and there.

I see no reasons for people to spent over 100$ on just jeans, they are just casual wear....JMO

And btw, for pants, there is something called medium rise (one inch below belly), which is the best length. It's not either three inches below belly tacky rise, or just below waist high rise unflatterning jeans! OK?

i think people justify spending over $100 BECAUSE they're jeans.

you wear them ALL of the time.

that said, i'm definitely over the designer jeans trend. it's just tiring and too hard to keep up with. it seems every other day in wwd, they're mentioning a new label that's launched and that they're the next it brand because of reasons x, y, and z. give me a break.

i bought two pair of levi's skinny straight jeans about a month ago (both in black) and don't plan to buy any other jeans until spring. i'll get by on those and the two pair of acne jeans i bought in sweden over three years ago (when i was super into collection designer denim).

I personally just buy the jeans depending on how they look, fit, and feel. I have some $80 pairs from abercrombie and guess... but my favourites are my rock and republic jeans, because they fit just right. They're expensive, but I wear them so much, and they last so long, that the actual value of the jeans are worth it.

i have nothing against designer jeans. but sometimes it just gets way to out of hand like some jeans i've seen are like $350+ and i mean its jeans. you can get a good pair of shoes or a designer handbag for that. it just seems unnecessary. i usually only buy if they are on sale like i got a pair of sevens at a nordstroms rack for $60 which for me is kind pricey already but compared to like $150? thats a pretty good deal. and i love lucky brand jeans they seem to have disappeared but for me they are really comfy, last long, and fit great and you can get a really good deal on them. o and just to share a conquest i went on vacation to missouri and scored the best pair of gray skinny style jeans from gap for only $4! and they are great, i get loads of compliments

I'm done with "logo" denim but certainly not designer denim. Rather than have a giant R, horse shoe, or seven squiggles (???) I'd rather have great fitting denim without a huge logo (ie. J Brand). But you can tell the difference between the denim of silver and acne so I don't mind spending more. Although the designer inflation on jean prices have become ridiculous, some ranging from 300-400. I do also remember the days when I thought paying 165 for a pair of sevens was way to much too.

I own R&R, Sevens and true religions they all fit amazingly but I'm not into the huge logos anymore

I have one pair of "designer jeans." They're Siwys, which fortunately didn't get too popular like True Religions, etc. (I am a snob like that... I stop likeing things after too many people have heard of them.) They are great, the pockets are gorgeous, but I think I regret getting them; I could have spent the money on something much better.
I'm really into BDG jeans from UO now, the guys' jeans. Blank pockets, and they have this cheap fake leather label on the outside, but it was easy to cut off. They definately are just as good.

Mainly I'm just sick of the whiskers and butt pockets.

hmm

well i would say jeans are getting over rated now, like really over rated, I read an article about how the "jeans + camisole" look is getting tired and old, and girls in LA are opting for dresses and skirts and pants and leggings.

I rarely wear jeans, and for that reason only own two pairs-one blue and one black. Neither pair cost me more than 20$. Personally I am sick of the way people tend to wear jeans at the most inappropriate times. I have seen them at parties and even at church on Palm Sunday. No matter what kind of wash or detailing some of these jeans might have, I don't think there is anything that justifies a $100 plus price tag for something that looks so casual.

its been LIGHT YEARS since i bought my last pair of designer jeans

in fact the pants i get more compliments on lately are my 25$ h&m skinny pants

hmmm i hate the logo glitzy aspect and for the most part the quality between the cheapies and designer jeans isnt a big difference, generally they all come from a factory/sweatshops ( i worked retail trust me i've seen $500 jeans rip within a months wear ), i can see justifying it if they are custom made for you like ernest cut and sew and you will wear them forever or even if they have a realy hot unique cut you love or you have a hard body type to fit, but for the most part its about status and silliness, i've been wearing skinny jeans for years and i had designer ones i got free when i worked at a boutique ( a few i still have, a few didnt last over a few months ), but recently i started buying no label pattern free pocket classic blue skinnies from an old school punk rock store and they fit so amazing i bought two of the same pair for $50 a piece and i get compliments all the time, the only way i would pay more than $50 now is if i found a great straight leg or skinny with a "natural" waist and they fit me, i have trouble with fit cause i'm super petite so the butt usually sags but i still find cheapies that work, oh yeah and dickies make good jeans too

teh only reaosn why iw ill pay for jeans is cuz i live in america--where average woman no longer has a hourglass figure... that is okay--but that means i shell out cash for jeans from typically italian makers (diesel, miss sixty, notify(although french), and the like---because the waists aren't ridiculously big on me while cutting off the circulation in my hips/thighs. also there is the lenght thing. i bought some snugglers frommiss sixty--- 38.5 inch inseam!!! never would i find such a thing at the gap.
in order to fit into cheaper denimlines you really need a body that fits into the mainstream.. and for many demographics--that s about 5.5, size 6... if not...

I think it's not the price that's important, it's the fit... I've tried some Sevens a few months ago, and they fit HORRIBLY on my body.... but they fit wonderfully on my friend's, so it's all relative.

My favourite pair of jeans I bought maybe 3-4 years ago... they cost me 20$ and they're straight leg Moto jeans. (Moto is the brand, it's really cheap!) ^_^ Everyone asks me where I bought them.... I got SO many compliments on these jeans, it's crazy! Sometimes strangers would walk up to me and ask where they can buy a similar pair lol!

So I say, buy jeans that makes you look the best, regardless of the pricetag or designer. ^_^

I love my 200 dollar jeans, but I also adore a pair of $11.00 DKNY skinnies I bought at Macy's. As far as I'm concerned, if I find a pair of jeans that fit fantastic and I can afford them, I'll get them. Names don't really matter to me, but I've had more luck with Tavernetti and Diesel than Baby Phat.

I love jeans, i live in them, i wear them to work, school, everywhere.
I admit a few years back i was designer jean crazy and went out and bought the T.R. and the frankie b's, but now i stick to classic joes and pdc.
