i just love paintings from this period. probably my favorite period of art. there is something about all the painters from this period in time that creates such candid yet refined emotions without boardering insanity. even with paintings of the interior of a home feels with emotions, like the danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi.

I couldn't agree more...to me, that is the purest form of talent.

great choice with Hammershoi the silence and stillness in his subtle paintings are very melancholic.

I'm desperate to know the source of this Hammershoi-inspired picture I came across recently. I guess it is taken from an editorial..

^i would loveee to live in his house. so serene and the decorating choices are really modern yet classic.
i would love to visit musee d'orsay again in july. the last time i was there was in 2008. at the time they had an exhibition on Lovis Corinth. i didnt know who is was until that exhibition. definitely some awe-inspiring paintings
but this one is just lovely and simple
