I think auduery hepburn had a classic and very chic style. Its a shame that we dont give her style enough credit as it was truly inprising and timeless.

In regards to the anorexia rumors, like someone else said before in this thread, she had issues with eating due to the war (when she endured long periods without food).

In regards to her style, I think many of us may be confusing her style in film with her own personal style. When I think of Audrey Hepburn as a style icon, I think of her films. In which, I do not believe she dressed herself.

My goodness, I am right there with you. I lose it whenever I see her upset and cry whenever I see her in general! I admire her kindness so much. She was such a wonderful lady. There will never be another Audrey.

Agreeing with you, Fabulyss: I got the "Audrey Hepburn - an Elegant Spirit" book written by her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer for Christmas. In it he writes that she was very very malnourished as a child during WWII (she lived in Holland at the time, arguably the country worst hit by poverty due to the war), and that she continued to study ballet during these times nonetheless. This could account for her physical development and thin frame later on. Her son also writes that she ate well, but not too much, didn't take second helpings for example. That she wasn't a vegetarian, but didn't eat much meat either... But he doesn't mention anorexia at all, not even to defend from such rumours. Of course, he's her son, so i suppose he wouldn't want to write about that. I think she always looked skinny throughout her years, but healthy nonetheless - her skinnyness being part of her body structure, her frame. My mom weighed 47 kg when she was 8 months pregnant with me for example - some people just are really thinly and lightly framed.

As for her film style though, i do believe she had something to say - she collaborated with her close friend Hubert de Givenchy during all those years to make the "costumes" for many of her characters. So probably the clothes in the films were character-driven, but I do think she had a say since many of those characters were dressed by one of her best friends.
