Babyshambles

i dunno...for me a band is always something more special when they're more 'underground'

ofcourse you do, it is the core of the band, but at some point the band must become mainstreme, get the money, the girls, do some serious tours, and get back to where they started. otherwise, they would never be known outside their county.

i swear i do have a point here, but i am a bit sick, so i may sound like a long lost alien.... i think i have a fever...

aww yeah i know ur right...but somehow i dont like that to happen...

get better soon :flower:

honestly don't understand people who want good band to stay unsuccessful forever. It always makes me happy to see a good band doing well, and that Peter get more recognition for his talent, rather than for his personal life

Babyshambles blog No 8: In which I meet Serj Tankian and Joel Madden I'm thanking
The MTV European Music Awards were a day of foggy oddness for the Babyshambles bass man.

Woah. Strange old day.
EMA - surreal foggy oddness. We stumbled through plastic corridors like lighthouse keepers at a wedding, tripping over VJ microphone cables and squinting at flashbulb image capturing devices. We plowed through Delivery like ambulance drivers on a stage that looked like the third level on Pacman. I met Serj Tankian, one of the most remarkable vocalists I've ever heard which was kind of a big deal for me. If you have any preconceptions about System of a Down all I can say is have a listen to their first album. His vocals are blistering, bludgeoning and as savage as John Lydon at his best. I beamed like the cat that got the cream when he told me he was into Babyshambles.
We also befriended more unlikely 'Shambles fans, the Madden brothers from Good Charlotte - I know, I know, you punk purists out there will be vomiting into your collection of Operation Ivy records - but they happen to be really sound lads. When they presented the Album of the Year Award they jokingly announced us as the winners, before shrugging and admitting, "nah, its Nelly Furtado". People give them a hard time, but they know what they do is just pop music, what's so wrong with that?
A strange old day indeed, but I guess it'll be something to tell the grandkids when I run out of bedtime stories. Still, can't help think on such occasions that the words 'music' and 'business' are strange bedfellows.
So long...

i totally want them to be successful..just not in a mainstream/commercial way..

okay, here is the deal. the whole world knows about pete and that he has a band. it is time to move on, for people to know bs songs, not just pete's love life.
pulp, one of the greatest bands of our time, waited for like a decade to become famous, and they had to do it with catchy tune common people. after that, they could do anything. same goes for blur, well, basiclly for all great bands who want to enter the music history.
it is almost impossible to have a band and not to go mainstream at some ppoint, if u want to get somewhere.
i thought it was weird for bs to play on ema, but it is actually great. tehy are like bringing guitar sound back to europe.

and i am hoping to get exclusive photos, cos my friend was there for mtv adria!!!!

They are hardly going to become mainstream/commercial for one gig, really. they need to do promo for the album (they didn't do it for DIA 'cause Pete was way out of control at that time I'd say).
But one of the reasons I love them so much is because of how aprocable they are, I've never seen a band like that, they answer every question, post on their forums all the time (even their manager), can go from playing at the EMA'S to the worlds smallest sh*t-hole and be the same. I don't think they'll change, they are just doing what every band does when they have a new album out

i just found out babyshambles are playing here in lisbon, january 8th! :D i think i'm going to faint with excitement!!:woot::lol:

im not saying they ARE mainstream or commercial im just saying that i dont want them to do more things like EMA and alike...im just not a big fan of MTV and the whole MTV scene...

i saw them in a scret gig in bristol and they were amazing, they were so special

yeah, i understand you, me neither, but i can't help but be happy for them. i guess when we love a band that's not very well-known we always end up being a little selfish and not wanting to 'share' them with the rest of the world...

yeah...im like that with alot of bands...mostly because i know them and i dont want them to leave and tour the world or be too busy

Well, Babyshambles can't tour the world so that's not a problem

yeah, well, thank god! :D

but this summer when they played here, mik didn't came, because, according to pete, he didn't have a passport (not sure i believe it, but still...) he must have gotten one meanwhile, since they've been to paris and all that lately.

I know what you mean, we all want to keep him to ourselves don't we. Still, I don't think we should worry too much, there will still be a lot of Pete hatred in the world in the future (stupid people - they can't keep up you know). Also, I must say that meeting fellow fans can create wonderful friendships and help you find fellow stalkers. How did you think me an SiennaInLondon met huh? :p
