Back in Black...

Back in black (fall 2005)

Sparkle, begone. Adieu, ornamentation. Designers went dark for fall with little dresses, swingy coats, and column gowns - all in attention - grabbing black.

Well, I'm not done with color and ornamentation, and I don't think a lot of other people are either. (And if you ask me, there's a fair amount of color and really quite a lot of ornamentation in the Fall collections.) I wore black for years and I'm still damn tired of it (and of being asked whether I was unhappy because I wasn't wearing color--I'm in the South). What finally jerked me out of my rut was the cleaners destroying a key black piece of my wardrobe. It was tough to replace, and so I decided to end the current season and take my wardrobe in a completely different direction for the next one. I don't mind low-key for Fall, I will have some black, but I'm planning more brown and teal. I don't think I'm the only one who's not going back to black ...

I want those McQueen boots so badly :(

I've never really followed the trend of colors for the season. However, I've always liked the sleek look of black, and how it can be a wonderful backdrop for my handbags, shoes, and jewelry.

ditto fashionista-ta..
said it before and i'll say this again.. black bores me to tears, its far too safe and common, i mean everyone's been wearing it non-stop and for years, so its not even a trend somehow... just the industry' s 'safe' reaction to a real tough -commerical wise- season...

absolutely not for me, i find black too boring :ninja:

this may sound quite silly but i'm quite thin and i love being thin so i wear a lot of black (as well as it being one of my favorite colours) because i think it emphasizes the sillouhette :)

Black is a basic colour, and people have worn it forever. I happen to love it. It may be safe and boring to some, but not to me. I prefer to think of it as discreetly elegant instead of "boring camouflage". ;)

Anyway, all black hasn't really been widely worn for quite a while now. It feels "new" to me. And I mean full, rich, deep black silks and wools, not washed-out cotton. :p
