Bag, Borrow, or Steal

That is true - it would be awkard, wouldn't it?

And really, people should carry bags that they love/suits them and not because Vogue says it's the latest "IT" bag.

My personal mantra is to buy a purse you can afford to add soul to your wardrobe collection. :)

I would be terrified, like its not YOURS so if some-one asks you you have to blatantly lie, i mean who would actually say "No it's not mine, it's rented!"

I would never do it, if you don't got the money for a Birkin you shoulden't pretend you do.

you make a great point! And at the risk of sounding elitest- think of every bimbo carrying a Birkin just because they subscribe to this membership thing... I mean it looses its appeal, its no longer special...

I personally find it strange.

I mean the fun about purses is the buying, collecting and the challenge in making an informed buy for yourself right?

exactly!

I would never do it.

i think it's a cool idea. i wouldn't do it though. i get my rush from actually owning these bags, so renting them wouldn't do it for me :-)

i just took a look at the handbags and except for the über-collection they aren't very spectacular. and if i had 250 pounds a month i'd save for a while and buy my own birkin :innocent:

OMG!

such a terrible waist!! If i reted a Birkin i wouldent want to return it!

Id take it and jet of, to Mexico!!!! :ninja:

  I FEEL YOU IN THAT ONE pucci-mama!!!!

it'll just lead to yet another waiting list for bags- a rental waiting list for the birkin and the seasonal must have....

ha - i've just looked at the website and there are waiting lists for the birkin, spy and paddington!
also who in the world would rent the mink lv baby papillon- ugh!

People actually are on the waitinglist for the Birkin, for renting?????

How pathetic!

in the US we have http://bagborroworsteal.com/

i think it's a pretty neat idea. if you're unsure about how a bag feels or suits you, you can borrow and test drive it first before making a purchase, especially for big ticketed ones.

haven't borrowed from them though.:p

it just doesn't make economic sense to me. the bag borrow or steal "diva" membership is $99 per month and the bags include a Kors that retails for approximately $200. and I don't see any luxury brands or bags that are hard to find. I would like to hear from someone who has actually subscribed to one of these services and has found it worth the money because I feel like I am missing the point.

Bleh... I'd rather just save up my money and get my own purse. Especially since I take such good care of mine... I mean, usually when people don't own it personally, they tend not to take as good care of it as if it was theirs.

yikes! i take that back. didnt know it was THAT expensive to rent. it's not cost-effective.

Rent-a-Bag?

I just spotted this in a magazine today. I'm not sure how well the Blockbuster video rental concept works with regard to designer bags. I don't know anyone yet who's using the service. I'm a bit sceptical myself.

I heard something about this last year. Hasn't caught on around here much, but I guess makes sense if you have a special event to attend, or feel like having something new and luxurious for a short amount of time. ;)

in my opinion it's not worth it to "borrow" a bag. better idea would be to save up for it. also what if you damage it in some way? you would prob have a rediculous fee.

good luck!

what the ..? it's ridiculous. who'd want to rent juicy couture? or any as a matter

I think it makes sense for an evening bag or very "of the moment" bag if the prices are affordable.

Has anyone heard of bagborroworsteal.com? For those of us with limited incomes, it's an interesting choice. I'm thinking of signing up, once I have a source of more steady income. Basically, you sign up for a plan that you can afford and then you can borrow the designer bag of your choice for as long as you want. When you get tired of it, you can return it and get a new bag, or if you love it, you can "steal" it for a fraction of the normal price. Pretty cool.
