I've always loved baggy trousers  they've always made me feel sort of manly, which isn't such a great thing on my bad days, haha. Still, I love how Irina pulls them off, and this thread does show really cool ways to wear them

i love baggy pants, esp those cut 40s style or slouchy marc jacobs 'street' style, it creates a very a nice silhoette ,im obsessed with them seriously..
i like that derek lam purple blouse and napoleanic pants..it would be nice to see theses pants in other colours either than black ,blue and greys....

pilatis take on it

this is the first time ive seen pilati doing baggy pants, i think this is what katie holmes wore in paris...

I love love love it on girls, but don't think many guys can pull off the look. I love and wear two pairs of oversized tweedpants with my cardigans, a vintage scarf, allstar's and a lot of jewellery like brooches, necklaces and bracelets. I think that look is very hot. Very librarian-chic (does anyone of you remember the page on the "librarian"-look in Vogue UK August 05? It's still my biggest inspiration.)

oh no soft and grey...those arent skinny pants...those are cropped slacks ( i know what you mean) , i thought you were talking these....http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod36330045&parentId=cat8300733&masterId=cat8000746&index=17&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat000003cat8000746cat8300733

but in pant material ...that looks tacky...oh lord wearing that too work lmao

Ohhh right I get what you mean ;) Sorry my mistake. I forget that sometimes in Australia we use different terms etc. We dont refer to 'slacks' over here.. but that is what I mean. Thanks for the clear up ^_^

I must admit I havent seen anyone wearing pants like those neiman marcus ones to work.. that would be a sight :innocent:

My mom just gave me the most beautiful pair of black harem pants from Pakistan, 100% silk. I guess they qualify as baggy trousers, no?

yeah those are baggy !!! really baggy!! really comfy!!
actually they are 3 types of harem pants, people in the west dont know, the one your talking about is probably the "patiala pant" ie salwar as it is called. They were last popular in the late 70s/early 80s esp around 1977-78 they were worn in discos. Marc jacobs featured the "patiala pant" in his spring 2007 collection (grey and white jumpsuit) , its actually being worn by woman in northern india. It looks like this ...http://www.designersalwarkameez.com/patiala-salwar-kameez.php
im sure marc jacobs was inspired by going to jackson heights in new york..that cut of pant is readily available.

It's them! I love them to death. I have been living in them since I got them. Not sure what to wear them with, though.

Ida, looks good :flower:

I am warming up to this kind of trousers. In fact I love them!

debbie harry aka blondie use to wear that with a tube top and raybans circa 1977..a very early new wave/ disco look....
i found this cool link of how to wear high waisted baggy pants...it looks cool and its so different, the leather jacket punks up the look , while the pants are all sophisticated a good fashion clash..lol

go to "looks" and go to "taboo", i love this look!!!

It's very simple, really.

Skinny pants look good in few, wide pants look good in almost everybody.

So, overall, wide pants are much more popular with consumers. Which makes the need for designers to go for wide pants much more frequently quite evident, and it's a trend that generally lasts for more seasons than the skinny trend.

Ah... les cycles de la mode...

^^^^^^^very true , for skinny girls it gives them volume , for bigger girls it creates a volume which is stream lined and hides a lot flaws , wide leg pants have become a classic now , they are like a womens really good friend , they look smart and proper..
