This is an old 60's fashion revival...its called a tunic top.

Kind of, but not quite. The 1960s tunics were more like regular dresses, only just barely too short to wear on their own. I've got a lot of old sewing patterns from that era for different tunic-and-trouser outfits. This is more like, well, an oversized tee-shirt.

I'm not really feeling the love for this trend, but then again, I'm not a huge tee-shirt fan, and think it looks kind of ridiculous when one tries to "dress up" a tee-shirt. Also, you'd have to be so particular about what sort of trousers to wear so as not to look bunchy through the waist and hips. You'd need to wear something with a faced waist and back-zip ideally, and unfortunately, the cotton tee-shirt fabric would still cling and ride up on the trouser fabric. You can't wear a slip with a tee-shirt!

yeah I agree, it actually reminds me of the early 70's when extra long (tightly fitted) t-shirts were worn with bellbottoms. think brady bunch. :p
but I'm with ayli, it's not so easy to wear...I do actually like the extra long tshirts (it's wonderful to find tops that are long enough for me), but I don't like the way they bunch up and get lumpy around the waistline of your trousers/jeans.

And I was kind of thinking early 1980s, with the whole one-shoulder, bunched on the hip Flashdance thing. Especially since so many designers have been revisiting the 1980s.

I'm short also (5'2") but I wear heels. I like it, 'cause it makes my torso look longer!

I've found that tunics and long t-shirts don't really work for short and stubby girls like me

these were big last year wear i live, when the whole 80's thing was big and some wear worn slightly of the shoulder

I have that Old Navy long layering tee and I really love it :-)

How is the quality adorevintage? I bought a couple tops from Old Navy and they didn't hold up like I thought they would. After a couple of washes (delicate cycle I might add) they looked a little ragged.

I love this trend and hope to see it more..Does anyone know any other stores that sell some good quality ones? (Nothing against Old Navy^_^ )

^ I have a few from AA, and they're great.

I really like this trend, I have some tees that I actually buy in a big size, and then adjust the waistline, so it's fitted, but long...As Lo said, under skinny jeans or tights it looks delish

I totally love this look

i like to layer them too.....i will wear a x tra long skinny tank under a small fitted t

Long Thees with a fantastic belt on it. It maybe so 80ies, but it really comes back. Just watch the SS 2005 of Dior. And what do you think about the XL I (L) NY shirts or the Elvis shirts you see a lot at the moment. Just wear them in a large size, but a belt on it. A jeans and some boots and don't forget that big (vintage) bag. Well, we just got another outfit. ^_^
