Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2022 Paris

I prefer his work when he is twisting Couture or formal wear rather than when he is doing « Streetwear ».
I think I’m at the point where I’m aware that we won’t get the type of brilliance he showed in his first 2 collections for example. His work at Balenciaga has been a variation of what he showed in his first year…

Demna is talented but I find his Balenciaga so boring precisely because I think his offering in terms of Streetwear doesn’t elevate his proposition.

But in terms of Prefall, this is great. Let’s be honest, apart from Chanel that has always used Prefall as something directional, it doesn’t have the same weight for the other brands.

I really wish millenials bought more of Demna’s tailoring instead of his tshirts and sweats.

i find most of the tailoring to be just 3XL vitnage jackets replicas without any construction or details (of course apart from the hourglass tailoring introduced in his 1st collection 6-7!!! years ago). For this reason I find the tailoring from Balenciaga even more boring personally. However he must have predicted the future back then if they are still able to milk the same shapes and silhouettes almost 7 years later…. Kudos for that.

I like this collection more than the red carpet one. The red carpet really looked like what they have in outlets styles together…. nothing new at all.

This one is very clean. Wearable. But of course I agree with everyone not much (if anything) from the fashion point of view.

I watched the video of the collection and some part of me got caught in a mood of nostalgia. For someone like me, who trained his eye on '90's fashion, the video really struck a chord (kudos to Korine for coming up with the idea). But, at the same time, you realise along the way that so much of it is just pure ersatz -the real trademark of Gvasalia's talent - as to leave you with a strange aftertaste. It's like everything is there, except the interesting clothes that the era regaled us with in abundance.

You have to give Demna his due and acknowledge that he's brilliant in finding new ways of presenting clothes - I wish he were as brilliant in designing them.
