Balenciaga S/S 1999 Paris

the princess leia collection

what i find so fascinating looking at these collections in comparison with the work he's doing of late is that purity of those early days....that underlying simplicity that allows for the great craftsmanship nicholas is truly good at to shine.

I kept seeing this images from this collection pop up on tumblr recently and i am in such love with it. Like you said its strange to see how different nicholas aesthetic was back then compared to now. I would almost go and say if i was saw this in person on the front row, i would find it really moving, because of how it so simplistic in its sheer beauty. I'm desperate to see a full length video now.

damn, this is a great collection. love the inspiration too. super chic, clean.

I love this so dangerously much. ♡ I think it's the definition and sharpness of the lines and folds that obsesses me so much. I wish that this were Balenciaga today.

It's funny to see a collection from almost 15 years ago, and realize that it would look 100% in place on today's runways. Wouldn't it?

Amazing collection in its pure simplicity. Makes me miss Ghesquière's old minimal aesthetic.

Not only is it fabulously 90s, it's also totally wearable. Miss this kind of Balenciaga
