Ballet flats

I wish I could afford a pair of Repettos, but I'm in full-on saving mode right now. Damn you, college tuition!

I live in ballet flats most of the time, except when working. I've had the same pair of Nine West ballet flats 2 times in a row, lol. They're just so comfortable, and reasonably priced!

I find nothing wrong with ballet flats. I'm told that actual ballerina slippers are beautiful, but not real appropriate for day-to-day wearing. I don't get why some femmes hate these girly and cute shoes. Their simplicity is amazing- a comfy slip-on with a cute bow at the toes. I've never seen a bad use of these shoes. At least I'd rather see ballet flats than Converses or poorly-designed (as in any prints on them) Vans slip-on sneakers. Just because most people think a pink plaid skirt with combat boots looks better than ANYTHING paired with ballet flats doesn't mean that ballet flats are the new flip-flops. Its their simplicity that makes them fun to wear and looks great no matter what kinds are worn (as long as they aren't peep-toe ballet flats). One other fun thing- they can be worn almost all-year. If it gets too cold, just find some comfortable socks or tights (the ones with feet) and slip on the ballet flats.

I've seen a variety of styles of ballet flats in various designs. The cute bow design as well as some of the other styles make them wearable and cute. One of my friends had some blue ballet flats that had white polka dots on them. And just because a style is "too girly" doesn't mean it's a terrible look. I think these flats are truly adorable and lovely. Maybe some designer will come up with more ballerina-like ballet flats that look as lovely as real ballerina slippers, only they can be worn all year and not hurt so much (as I'm told by someone who likes ballet flats but disagrees about wearing ballerina slippers as casual shoes). I personally love these shoes. So go out and find a style of ballet flats you like best. Maybe get some in different colors. Still very little to hate about these shoes.

^ WOW! You like 'em dontcha?

.... :yuk:

On another ballet note, I bought Stella McCartney flats today and I should have kept them on longer when trying them, cause BOY DO THEY HURT...........!

Is it because I've never worn ballet flats before or are they simply BADLY done?

Well I know that Stella uses natural materials and I have heard in more than one instance that her shoes are not that comfy

Maybe since they are new they need to stretch out some to fit your feet better?? Good luck with them Kim.

I've just found a lot to love about them as a casual fashion. They are becoming every bit as wearable as fun as flip-flops that I've seen. I find nothing terrible about these shoes no matter what the style or what the color. Haven't seen a pair I didn't like. Only if they were in the wrong color or just look poor. I like these for the most part.

I did recently but I returned them b/c they didn't match the description that the seller listed. I went up a half size and they fit fine. Comfy and very cute but the left shoe was stretched really weird so they went back!

im usually between 37/37.5 but i went with a 38 on lanvins. but thats mostly cause i hate when that kind of ballet flat stretches too much, so i wanted them to be quite large

i dont know if i made any sense

I usually wear a size 36 and 36,5, and two of the pairs were 36 and one pair was 36,5. The pair in 36,5 are a little bit too big, but I still wear them without any discomfort. The thing is that I think the Lanvins with the elasticated back looks best when they fit like a sock. Hehe. (Dunno how to explain it...) If they're too big they tend to stand out in the back and it looks kind of weird. But that's just my opinion. I bet the different models/seasons differ from eachother and the fabric might have something to do with it as well.

I have 36 and 37 in Chanel flats and they both fit. (And sneakers in 36,5). They fit differently, of course. But both are ok on the foot. And that's because they don't have the elasticated back. They look good no matter how much I fill it out (or don't).

Where did you get the yellows? I have been looking for them everywhere, I got the fire engine red's but they were out of my size in yellow at Barneys

for those of you who have ballet flats that are elasticized, do you find that the elastic pushes your toes up to the front uncomfortably? i tried on my normal size and it felt uncomfortable because the heel was being pushed up so i bought a 1/2 size up. was that a bad move? does the elastic usually stretch out? also, do you guys usually leave some wiggle room for your toes in flats?

^ tomato8 - If you are talking about Lanvin's ballet flats, then no the elastic does not stretch out with time. If its killer when you buy them it'll remain killer for the long haul. As with all shoes, the fit really depends on the shape and not only on the size of your foot. I always take a size 36 in Lanvin elasticated ballet flats, however, I do try them on with care before I buy as there can be small variations in size, tightness of the elastic, etc. which is most often due to the material used on the upper. For example, I love the patents because I find these have the tightest elastic, then afterwards the lizard flats, the regular leather still fit but have more give around the elastic. However, I did buy a pair of the metallic flats from last Summer and found that they were too big. BTW, although I choose the shoes on the snug side - they are snug around the elastic part - I can always move my toes inside. Don't squish your toes - you'll get foot problems down the line! lol..

thanks, grill! i think ill just keep them. the elastic isnt too loose and i have toe wiggle room. i dont like the idea of expecting my shoes to stretch out. if anything, i can just add some sole inserts.
