Ballet flats

I don't feel like spending a lot on most of my flats, unless they're leather. So I picked up some at Gap for $20. I looove them. I didn't have any discomfort at all either.

I stopped buying synthetic shoes a long time ago. Goodbye blisters.

Ok, ok.. I do get the occational blister, but not as much as I used to.

I don't see why you should spend much on flats, either. I bought my three pairs at Payless and Kohl's, and so far have had few problems.

it's not just the padding that makes them comfortable, it's the buttery leather too. they really just are the most comfortable flats I ever had. they're not 100% perfect, but the closest to it I've experienced.

plus, for me personally, I like the simplicity of them. I think they're understatedly (is that a word?) refined.

On my feet they weren't comfortable at all - I find the soles very hard. So far the most comfy flats I have had are the Repettos

If I were to wear only one type of shoes for the rest of my life, it would be a simple pair of ballet flats.

Ok.. They would be extremely cold during our Norwegian winters, but you know what I mean. :D

I don't really know if this is the most appropriate place to post but since it's related to ballet flats (and maybe some of you can relate), I'll do it anyways.

I love wearing my flats but sometimes my feet get so sweaty it feels quite gross to walk in them. I wear thin feet socks and they help a bit with the sweat but they get annoying because they tend to slip off my heel. Does anyone get sweaty feet from wearing flats? As well, sometimes I wish some of my flats were a bit more comfortable (someone recommended a Dr. Scholl's product.. does it make wearing them more comfortable?)

Do you always wear socks with your ballet flats or do you barefeet it?

Thanks!

Same here. They are so comfortable that sometimes when I wear them I look at my feet to make sure I didn't leave home with slippers. :crush:

I bought these Bread and Butter ones. Black and white. They are so adorable, but they hurt like hell. :(

I go barefoot. I don't have much of a problem because my flats are usually made of fabric. But I've had some lined with leather or made of pleather that were pretty bad. I tried those little sock things and they didn't help me.

I usually go barefeet in the flats but from now on, as it's getting colder, I'll wear black or grey tights in them, as seanutbutter just said. But if I don't wear socks they tend to get a bit sweaty during the summer. I guess you could use some talcum powder, but I've never tried it and I don't know if it actually works.

And as for the Dr. Scholl's inserts/insoles, I mentioned them once and they're awesome. It provides a little cushion for your heel and I'm able to wear the flats for a longer period of time without them hurting too much. I don't remember the name of the insoles right now, but they have a "cushion-bit" in the back and then they stop after the curve underneath your feet. There's one problem with them though and that is if the flats are low-cut, the cushion will push your foot up too high and they keep slipping. But if they're normal height on the sides they're really good. There's all sorts of heel pain relief inserts/insoles, so take a look at the Dr. Scholl's website. I hope that helps a little bit. =)

I almost always go barefoot while wearing flats. I think that tights can be worn with flats but not straight up socks.

I bought these faux sock things in Bloomingdales which are really great. They are like a covering for your toes and bottom of your foot so your shoes don't get all sweaty but the top of your foot is still exposed and you can't see the 'faux sock' after you put the shoes on. They are really great. I think they call them peds or something.

Are they?! I only have a few pair of ballet flats, but my Repettos (two pairs, different models) are the only shoes that I've stored away because they're simply uncomfortable for treading along cobblestone streets (which is most of the streets in my area of the city).

I'm hoping to add a few more of the funky heels that I'm seeing in local stores now to my wardrobe, anyway. :ninja:

But, I do think flats are nice to wear if you're on the go and don't want to wear sneakers/tennis shoes. Still, I can no longer wear them with the purpose of "dressing up". I just feel too ridiculous, now. :(

I made this collage of shoes under $70 (images from zappos.com). I ended up getting the rsvp bow flats in black (pictured in brown here)...they are SO cute!

I've worn my ballet flats 3 times and they don't hurt anymore...hooray!

Oh here they are! Zappos sends them so fast! I thought they ad that 60's sex kitten vibe like something Bardot might wear.

I first saw Lanvin flats IRL last week and I have to say I was very unimpressed. They looked great from a distance but they felt terrible. The sole was too hard and they sooo didn't feel worth 500$.. I'd rather buy three Repetto's!
