Balmain F/W 14.15 Paris

I dunno, aesthetically I really like this. The details, as always, are pretty incredible even if they occasionally overwhelm the garments, and I admire the fact that when compared to his predecessor, he's far more open to experimentation and breaking out of a single look/shape/silhouette.

I will say that the looks that don't work -- like those "rope" pieces for instance -- REALLY don't work.

Not entirely sure why people are complaining about yet more peplums from him, since I honestly can't recall the last time he showed a peplumed silhouette. It certainly wasn't in his last few collections.

i completely fail to see the relevance of these clothes for today

if a designer is going to reference a specific time in fashion i at least want to see their take on it, not just redo it.

this collection is especially bad but quite a few designers seem to struggle with actually making clothes which are not about the past or the future but about the now.
this actually goes beyond fashion too, it's weird.

the safari theme is truly horrible

so are the leopard print and pleated pieces, as well as those horribly unflattering trousers. badly styled show.

however, the shoes and some of the dresses (which are what he does best) are very good

I guess I'm not the only one who thinks Olivier is doing the same thing over and over again.

I actually liked his first collections, but with time it just gets so boring. From one to another, he just changes colour palette and embroidery, always the same wide belts with the same draping, loose trousers, wide shoulders, those cheap earrings and a long etc

Some fresh inspiration for this guy pretty please

Can't really make up my mind about this collection, safari/vogue paris/newmoney meet tom ford? uhm,... just confusing

The cast was heavy in a positive way but they couldn't alleviate the heavy garments. Maybe if he pushed it a bit more it would have been more palatable.

Initially his work was good, but this just looks like a bad Escada catalog from 1986 in all its tackiness.

What's with the passé hip hop music?
Balmain in my mind was dark European edge so this music he's using in the shows and on the actual Balmain website really doesn't gel for me.

This show made me more thankful for being born a man as the menswear is still quite desirable.
