Balmain F/W 2017.18 : Natasha Poly & Lara Stone by Olivier Rousteing

Not sure if these ones are BTS or actual campaign images, since they have the logo
I'm not surprised if those are actual campaign images. Might as well be IN the campaign too, right, Olivier? :P

I like this alot. (Natasha's and Lara's shots)
The new ones are so unnecessary and bad. Natasha and Lara are more than enough.

Happy to see Aleyna tho.

The other girls are so out of place and unnecessary, this is why you never put random amateur teens with professional models. Natasha and Jon would have been enough for this.

I don't really in love with this collection but i'm glad to see the campaign in black and white. It makes the clothes look strong and more stunning.

I believe that Pascal Dangin did the retouching. It's not bad for a first try but Olivier has a very good taste in selecting his models.
Natasha did a wonderful job. With a model like that, even an amateur can deliver something strong.

Natasha continues to slay

I really like this. Natasha's shots are the best. Even though I think Natasha and Lara would have been enough I'm happy to see Alexina Graham get a campaign.

Absolutely, Lola. Some dismiss Olivier because of his OTT-- and shameless tacky sensibilities and his guilty-by-association BFFs. But, he doe have very hitmaker pop tastes, and for that, he reminds me so much of Gianni, whose designs and lifestyle brand I've never liked-- but I will always appreciate and can even admire for its always consistent and distinct direction.

The one stain of this campaign is Jon... He resembles The Joker these days; he’s devolving into Zoolander’s brand of a caricature-- it’s creepy. The naked shot looks like a Zoolander farce.

(What’s Olivier done to his face…???? Is it just makeup? Or the harsh retouching….? Or fillers/injections?…Why do men do this to themselves? ...sigh….)

I wouldn't compare Olivier to Gianni only because IMO, Gianni was a genius and an innovator. He is still today one of the most influencial designer of the past 30 years but i get what you're saying.

Gianni had very mass taste in the way to communicate with his brand. His designs were fearless but he had a very classic approach in his ads & castings. He only worked with masters photographers and big models.

Even if this Balmain campaign is not bad, maybe Olivier is not fearless enough. Everything is just there...
As to his face, just heavy make-up and maybe retouching. I've seen him on TV, he still looks quite human.

True, Lola! I think Olivier is unfortunately stuck in an era which isn't fully appreciative of his 'cheese' factor. Think about it, this maximalist style of his is not what we are currently seeing in magazines, on the streets, at private parties. Yet somehow he's keeping Balmain's sales constant, so I don't know. Apparently they're also expanding on accessories and the mens line, and there's the lipstick partnership with Loreal which will launch next month.
