Wow...tragic and a new low from Olivier.
You can really see the input from the new CEO: a bunch of basics and over the top looks heavily reduced / toned down. It's clear the input from the new CEO is to maximize profits and turn Balmain into a flamboyant COS. The disco girl from the glorious Decarnin collections is long gone...
This collection could have been shown at NYFW and no one would have noticed...
Enough with the Minnie Mouse shoes, it's been 2 years...
Surprisingly, I really liked it!
I loved the energy and how the allure felt more urban, upbeat! There was some sort of modernity in that even though the fashion was really 80’s.
I think Emmanuelle Alt and Geraldine Saglio will have fun with it.
I hated those dresses that were literally cages on the models. They killed the vibe of the show.
Olivier needs to learn about being subtle though. But this was a good Balmain show!
Huge vibes of Montana, so I pretty quite like that, and the megaboots - did Vacarello launch a trend 6 weeks ago ?
But the execution is terrible, that poor girl in the white plastic dress walks like a robot, like caged in an exoskeleton.
He's so unapologetically derivative, it's kinda admirable. He's carved himself a following amongst the most ANNOYING people in society, but someone was bound to scoop them up. I respect his hustle.
No shade. I’m not saying it’s good, but it’s a nice progression of what the customer wants. It does seem a bit scattered in delivery, I love When his point of view is more focused.
