what's the point ?
Jane Post-Tarzan followed a rock and roll band in War Time ?
what a concept !

^That theme pretty well sums up my ideal wardrobe!!!!

A few holes in a t-shirt is so sexy to me, I like a tomboy look.

erin wasson meets roman flusey...
but i must say, after seeing prada's take on roman fisherman, this at least has a few-very few-nice pieces. it seems to me i've seen them somewhere before, but they are nice anyway.

You cannot forget rolling around in the garbage for a few days.

kind of boring and uninspiring. and this was the Paris FW show I was looking forward to the most. now i'm just disappointed...

why arent they using the runway to showcase the new accessory line that is supposed to be coming out?

because emmanuelle alt is consulting ;) no bags chez Vogue Paris!

i kind of like the collection as a whole. it's plain Balmain. Plain disco clothes. Plain expensive bling bling.
the only thing that bothers me, is that i havent yet identified the "carine" outfit. there's always one.
last season it was pretty clear and we spotted it before she even wore it.
this time, i just dont know

It is not to my taste but can appreciate the allure. It is not mind food, I know.

Rich girls(who really buy this) don't dress up, they dress down. TRASH is a common denominator these days, the great equalizer.
What makes the difference between Balmain and Jeremy Scott (for lack of a better example) is the quality. It may look like a homeless hooker onscreen or print but the pieces look like a million euros on the hanger and better yet on a beautiful girl.
I know I would love to see girls in a disco with this stuff!
Besides, his effect really has permeated the lowest of low sentier labels (to terrible effect) but hey, that is collateral damage when offering this at bargain basement prices.

This is what people wanted to get, Balmain for what its known for and nothing more. We've seen this already and im getting to the idea that it will never quite change.

I'm torn about this collection. On the one hand, I like the general direction that it's coming from much more than the ridiculously cheesy disco Barbie crap he's sent out the last few seasons. On the other, most of this collection is so far over the top that it's just straight up costume. When you take a theme such as post-apocolyptic warrior women and work it so heavy-handedly it becomes silly. Add to that the hype factor and I have a hard time imagining someone not looking like a total victim wearing this stuff.

It's a shame that the two best dresses (#5 on Freja and # 25 on Karmen) look like they were stolen from the Versace archives.

So horrible and unoriginal.

The collection looks like costumes Beyoncé's mother would've designed for Destiny's Child in 1998 to me, for some reason.

this is what i love: have most people in this forum seen the lion's share of runway shows to date from new york, london, milan, and paris?! while this definitely doesn't represent balmain's strongest collection to date, this definitely stands out as one of the most compelling visions for future-chic we've seen so far. it's a great way for balmain's rock chic to do the future thing that's gone viral in fashion lately.

also, as suzy menkes finds herself loathe to realize but incapable of writing, while ghesquiere's recycled version of the future does find itself more original, it doesn't find itself more marketable in the short term. in an economy still enslaved by negative news and less-than-confident consumers, a chilly inhuman version of the future won't get people to the stores, it takes this raw, ruddy, sexy stuff to get people to spend.

the mass market retailers know it, and most high end designers know it (which is why a fair number of them co-opted the balmain basics into their spring collections), they just can't admit it. this collection goes hand-in-hand with alexander wang and emilio pucci. unfortunately for balmain, i suspect those two did this look a little better for a slightly more palatable price.

Well there is no pee on my shirt thank you very much!

But I take my hat off to Christophe for recognizing that some women want to wear something a little tougher, a little sexier.
His collections are obviously not going to appeal to a button down chanel jacket kind of girl-but the market for ultra feminine, conservative apparel is saturated anyway.

But Berlin, it is the wear and tear that makes Balmain look so cool.

I'll try my best to explain. Let's forget for a moment that Balmain is ridiculously expensive, and just look at the clothes, and yes the styling. Some girls want to look tough and sexy at once. Like they're capable of kicking butt, and capable of seducing whoever they desire. A few holes in a shirt, or frayed denim shorts, or extremely tight leather pants, may represent that the wearer is tough, she has her own set of rules, and she doesn't care what anyone thinks. Such a tough, and in a few ways punk, look is styled so effortlessly here at this Balmain show. So a girl who wears this Balmain collection looks tough, yet effortlessly chic. This combination can mesmerizing at times. Some girls, myself included, wish to look this way.

^well put. also, it's still refreshing to see what few designers we have that actually dress REAL women. sure, these aren't museum pieces and they aren't museum pieces, but it's pretty notable that he's actually putting on a show of things people will actually buy.
